CB500/550 / CB 500 Front brake caliper and swing arm
« on: June 08, 2015, 10:29:57 AM »
Im missing one of these for my project, there are calipers and the mounting arms on Ebay, works out pretty expensive. Iv looked to see if there is a more modern caliper that fits directly to the fork mounts but cant find one. Do they exsist? if so can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Is a cb550 rectifier/regulator the same as a cb500 one? Done a bit of research on the web and it says it is. Just need clarification. Thanks.

Mike, that would be great. Kinda get everything in the frame engine wise not fully tighted yet so o can play with adjustment. Wheels in but back need respacing, just needs some pointers and advice. She's not the best looking bike yet but it'll get there over time. When ever your free, let me know and we can sort something out. Thank you.

Very cheeky question, are there any members in SW that could help me out with a project. Not parts wise but advice and know hows, im just outside Bridgend and if possible id like someone to show me what to do on certain parts of the bike. I can throw in a few beers if someone comes and gives me a hand with the bike. Big thanks. :)

So i need them both to operate the throttle? Can you just use a spring to close the carbs? Sorry if these are stupid questions, just trying to learn.

Old parts came with the project i can use but im going to get new stuff or clean this up and use, all boils down to cost and the look of the bike. Money is making all the choices right now.

I did an Ebay search and saw those after i posted my second reply, when you take into account the clamp price and shim price because they are 28.6mm i meight as well stick with 7/8 bars. Pros and cons i expect. Found  an adjustable riser set which i might be needing for the project as the top tube of the bike is very long. Time to work out costs and sizes to go for.

Yes, stumped on this one i think. Is there such a thing as triple tree with a 25mm clamp available for the cb500?

I have the chance to get a set of bars that are 25mm and very expensive for a good price, but the clamp is 7/8 on my cb500 and the bottom section is built into the  triple tree. Is there a simple and easy quick fix to change to 25mm clamping or is it a non starter. Thanks.
