Title: Cleaning bores after fitting new piston rings
Post by: watty51 on March 02, 2021, 07:10:48 PM
Gents and Julie of course.
As the title goes just fitted new piston rings, using plenty of oil to lubricate, following Julies rebuild thread. All went very smoothly but Before the cylinder head goes on should all the lubrication be cleaned off the bore walls.
Thanks
Mark

Thanks for the swift reply Julie.
Yeah that photo made me ask the question
I presume after time that oil will wear off.

Yes, the oil wears off very quickly. When you put the head on, make sure the pistons are not at the top of the barrels, as the oil on top of the pistons could seep under the head gasket until you get it all torqued down.
