From what I've looked at it seems
Step one is to fill I the normal v5 application form with a cover letter explaining its a old bike and they can often fined it for you. If not
Step to is to contact honda with frame number and fined out the year it was made. Then reregister with a age related plate. But you do have to get it MOTed to do that which you can do from the frame number.

Hey guys I have a cb650 frame but I don't know the reg and don't have the v5. How do I go about finding out the reg to get a v5?

Thanks guys. I picked the bike up for £100 looking like this
Probably spent a grand on it over a year and a half
But it's been fun and my 1st project so learnt a lot!
Just want to ride it now it's a grate feeling and a totally difrence experience to the blade

Hey guys so I got the 650z MOT'd and taxed to day it's been over a year since I got the rusty pile of nuts and bolts.
1st ride was GRATE loved it. Couple of miner problems
Number plate fell off (my fault)
And battery was flat when I got home
(I have a spear rectifier and alternator so not to worried abount that)

Pretty sure my tyers are under inflated tho? What is ppl running on the tubeless com stars?

hey guys, my rev counter on my 1980 cb650z goes up very slowly and only to about 3k then very slowly returns to about 1 k, if you tap the clock it will return to 0 after some time, i had a look at the clock and it seem s to be sealed.
any ideas

So I finally got the 650 running today after spending all weekend grinding the new valves in. It runs pretty well as long as the choke is on. Take it of a little and it stops. It has some cheep cone filters on so obviously getting way to much air. I plan on getting the k&n air filters for it they look cool 1 filter covers 2 carbs. But I'm going to have to jet it. Any advice welcome.

Will post a link to you tube when I work out why my phone won't upload it.
