On the TFL Ulez checker my 75 400/4 is showing that I have to pay the charge, although it has historic tax status. I emailed  TFL my log book and they confirmed that it was exempt, hope they are right. I shall see on the 29 th of August I guess.
A mate of mine recently bought my 1977 K7, he had the same experience and was told although the ULEZ checker said he would have to pay the charge, he was told when he questioned this that the master copy that they use showed it was exempt. He said exactly the same, let’s see what happens?

Only when done by a numpty, do make sure the washer is not on there and deformed.
Usualy the filter washer missing as well
Cheers, definitely not there and new washers fitted now and the filter washer presented itself to me nicely.

Always drains better on the center stand as, you have found out. It is because on the center stand the engine is leaning forwards. To get a better lean, but a plank of wood under the center stand.  ;)
What a timely post, I’ve literally just put mine on the centre stand with a piece of wood under it hoping it would do just that. Came to look here for any tips before I start, it’s my first oil change on a CB750. Nice to know I got something right.

TIP, Don't lose the washer that is after the spring. Sometimes they get stuck to the filter and you put them in the bin  :o
Got it safe and sound

Just about to refill, what I found very strange was that neither the oil tank or the sump drain bolts had washers, I do have spares so can fit them, is that normal??

Just to close this out, the seat arrived today and the quality of the Yamiya is excellent. It did work out to be quite costly in the end with the shipping charges and taxes but it definitely seems worth it.

Thanks for the recommendation

If you ‘are chosen’ by customs.

I do always seem to be chosen… first time for everything though I suppose, maybe it’s my turn to get lucky?

I was pretty sure PMC in Japan used to do a seat very similar to the Yamiya one but I can't find it on their site any more just the foam. JamesH may know.
Watch out you don't end up with special 'low' seat version that Yamiya do for the K0 ... don't ask me how I know this.

I did see that low seat when I was looking last night. I didn’t know what it was so decided to play safe and avoid it! I haven’t ordered yet but so far it’s looking like the obvious choice.

But - not cheap, and shipping is expensive….

You weren’t wrong about the shipping charges… That was a surprise!

Lovely, thanks for that. Nice and comfortable I presume?
Yes - very comfortable indeed.
Great, I will get one ordered.

I do have the original red foam seat but it’s not the most comfortable and this way I can preserve it as well.

Does anyone know of any current suppliers of a decent repro seat for a 750K0?

There are a couple that I have found, both with plastic bases, a metal would be preferred but would also be happy with a proven quality plastic.

The ones I’ve found so far are CMS and MonkyDax, does anyone have any experience of either?

Cheers

Greg

It wasn’t my first choice but a puncture to my Triumph meant I rode just shy of 200 miles on the K7 today, of which 140 miles were with Mrs C as a pillion and she didn’t miss a beat (the bike, not my wife!)

It also drew plenty of attention from gentlemen of a certain age on our stops. I didn’t get any pictures unfortunately but this was just before I put her back in the garage after the days efforts. I love this bike.

I’ve manage to get the old shocks off, it was just a case of more muscle.

Could anyone offer a bit of advice with the next step?

The new shocks are slimmer at the top than the originals and come supplied with three washers, these take up the difference to pack out to the end of the mounting post and allow the shocks to be fitted nice and snug, firstly is this ok and secondly, where would you fit the washers?

On the inside of the shock, on the outside of the shock, a mix of both????

Hope I’m making sense. I’m over thinking this now!

Here’s a couple of pictures to show the difference between the new and the old.

Have you tried removing the lower bolt and then just moving the shock front to back whilst pulling at the same time, usually works.
Yes, I had presumed it would slip off pretty easily but I think it’s going to need some persuasion!

I’ve moved onto the Bonneville brakes for this afternoons tinkering. I’ve always had bikes on and off since my teens but only recently started to get stuck into the work needed on them myself. I’m no stranger to using tools but spannering on a bike is pretty new to me, so I am a little cautious... as you can probably tell!

The more I do, the more I love it.
