CB350/400 / Can a gear linkage assembly be re-chromed?
« on: November 24, 2019, 05:03:14 PM »
The swivel joints on the linkages appear to be ‘riveted’ into the linkage arms (see pics) and am wondering if these can somehow be removed for the linkages to be re-chromed and then refitted afterwards.

Has anyone here had their gear linkage assembly re-chromed and if so how did you go about it?

Is that red diesel Trig    Hope your not running the Landy on it   LOL  !!
No good asking Trig that question Ross.... Fuel filling of all vehicles in this house comes under household chores, which is another one of my departments
If it was a "proper" Landy, you could run it on old vegetable oil, which a local chip shop pays us to take away! Eco friendly bio diesel, and recycling! Problem is with modern electronic control stuff it can't handle it!

Sent from my POT-LX1 using Tapatalk

Used to run my old Sierra 2.3 diesel on old cooking oil in the late  '90's, strained through a pair of Cathy's old tights until I got nicked by the Frying Squad   ;D

That actually made me laugh out loud Ash. 😂😂

Hi Ash
Do you think he would be willing to press a set up for me to do a restoration job on my collector box?

I’m wanting to get some spare keys cut for my bikes.
Only problem is on a couple the keys do not have a code stamped on them and I can’t see a code on the lock/switch.
Where should I be looking for codes on the lock/switch? 🤔

Welcome John

Enjoy being a member on the forum and enjoy the rest of your work returning the bike to stock.

I’d be very interested to hear from you if you do manage to find either a source for a NOS or even a decent used Sankei silencer for the 550F.

I’m needing one if I want to return mine to stock at some future stage. Although I’m probably more likely to see a winged Gloucester Old Spot flying over the Humber. 😂

I’ve made it to my digs east of Ipswich. At least I stayed dry in the car. 😁
Should be at Leiston, DS around 10am and should be be dead easy to spot in my bespoke SOHC birthday T-shirt. Thanks to my wife Janet  🙈
See you all there.

I’ll be there but will be driving down after the dreaded work on the Friday night staying just outside of Ipswich for the night.

Wish i I could get the Friday off and ride there. Work always gets in the way of enjoying yourself. 😟

Looking forward to meeting more of you on the 28th.

That looks like a very nice 750f. Have you had it long.
Hi Moorey.
I’ve had it less than 3 weeks. I bought off coppertop1234 who carried out a very good restoration to almost original.
It’s not a concourse show bike but a very nice example of the 750F to ride and enjoy.
It’s a lovely bike to ride, not as as tall as I thought it would be as I’ve only got short legs, and I’m proud to be its new owner. 😊
