I've looked at the Delkevic system but wasn't sure how they sound.
Is yours the straight or megaphone silencer and is it loud?
If you can post a photo of the Motad I may be interested.

Mind you, if Trigger sells me his for 99p I won't need it! 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers Graham
Is the one for sale on original?
Either way I'm interested as if it's original I would like it just in case I return the bike to stock spec.

Does anyone have recommendations for a replacement silencer or, if needed, a full system for a 550F that is not too loud.

The silencer that came with my Café Racer is a cut down straight through and, even after fitting a baffle, is far too loud for me.

Also I have measured the OD of the collector box outlet pipe at 56mm so am struggling to find a 'slip on' large enough to fit. Is this the correct size for the original header and collector box, they look original?

Ive got a Bell Custom 500 with compact googles (split lens). Don't get the Mark 49 goggles if you have a custom 500 they don't fit.

Most model type looms are the same its the switches they changed for different markets, from my dealings dvsa i was told orange running lights are not legal for UK registered bikes

Combined LED indicator and running lights are fitted as standard to my mates 2019 CB1000r Neo Sports Cafe so, for new bikes at least, this appears to have changed.

Hi Oddjob

I don't have a gas BBQ so this will be cheaper than buying one and I can build and dismantle the oven as I need it and store the bricks behind the garage out of site when not in use.
I've already sent for all the electrical equipment I didn't have to hand.  Total cost was less than £22.

Just waiting for the so called eBay UK supplier thermostat to come from China!!  I hate it when this happens.

Great advice Bryan

This will be a great help as I will be re-lacing the front wheel of my 550F with Stainless Rim and Spokes soon.

I need to build a heater oven (AshimotoKO Style), repaint and bake the hub first though.

Looking again at the pic it looks like you have been polishing in your dining room or conservatory!
How did you get away with that?  🤔😁

My 750F1 still has the indicator beeper fitted and active.

Is this not legal in the UK or just not recommended?
I must admit it is a bit annoying when sat at traffic lights etc waiting to turn.

Thanks for the clarification Ash.

Parts are on order.  I promise I will be careful and will not hold you or anyone else responsible for any outcome.

Believe me I would come to much more harm if I tried to use our kitchen oven again!  ;D

EDIT.
Everything ordered bar the cable to connect from my controller box to the heating element.
I assume that this cable needs to be heat resistant.  If so what spec do I need?

Cheers Ash. Hopefully this is the last question. 🤞

Out & About / Re: Out and about 2020

I’m commuting to work on mine so at least I’m able to be giving the 3 roadworthy bikes a run out at least once a week each.

It’s the only benefit of being a key worker at the moment.

Hi Ian ...  yea you sussed correctly .... house bricks .. sitting on aluminium extrusion (could use old oven wire shelf though)

Circuit as below

Someone mentioned element would burn out if not using fan...mine seems to have run for about 4 hours and OK without a fan  plus grill elements don't have fan, so maybe a grill element may be better if not using fan. Whatever ...  you need about 2.5 to 3kW (just capable of being run on a 13A socket). I just really used what I had. Top was a sheet of tiling cement board .. not asbestos based !

WARNING !! if anyone builds a similar setup it's best to house the thermostat in a sealed plastic electrics box. Also if your house doesn't have an RCD earth leakage  breaker type fuse box (Consumer Unit)  then use an additional  plug type RCD for safety. Also connect and earth cable to to any metal parts.

Thanks Ash

I'll order the element and thermostat and give it a whirl.
Can you send links to the items you bought please?

Also regarding the image, just to clarify, Is the Thermostat the thermostatic controller and is the Pilot Light the capillary bulb you placed in the oil gallery or am I completely wrong?

Ian

Looks good Ash.

Just a few of questions
Are they ordinary house bricks or oven bricks (is there a difference)?
Could you do a simple wiring diagram for us non-electrical engineer types?
How is the engine case supported, I assume not directly on top of the element?

This would be a good solution for myself, and many others I suspect, to prevent major upset with, and personal injury from, our wives or girlfriends or partners.  :D

Many thanks
Ian

EDIT:
I think I've answered two of my questions by looking more closely at the pictures.

House Bricks and Case is supported on the aluminium box section therefore will sit above the heating element.
