Hi there , This spare oil tank come with the 1972 750 K2 I purchased in bits 2 years go . It looks like a CB750 tank but doesn’t have the breather pipe on the back , so wondered if it was off an earlier or later model ?
Cheers , Russ.

Whereabouts are you Menno ? How much does it cost and does it require the tank bottom cutting out ?

The sealer was only put in as a precautionary measure and the tank didn't leak , but the sealer hasn't been applied as per the instructions and has bubbled up in  the bottom .  I really would like to remove it to prevent any rust forming within any of the bubbles .

I haven't tried that , but I seem to get the impression when searching forums that ordinary paint stripper isn't strong enough.

CB750 / Tank sealer removal ?
« on: December 21, 2016, 09:56:25 AM »
Hi all , after 3 weeks of waiting and swilling the tank round and round and upside down , the Caswell tank sealer remover still has not made much impact on the POR15 tank sealer , even though Caswell claim that it should bubble up within 10 minutes . I even put in twice the recommended amount. Have any of you guys any suggestions ? I'm seriously considering a new reproduction tank for £270 , but ideally I would like to keep the original tank.

I'm actually a Barton lad myself . I was born there and moved out when I got married in 1985 .

Hi all . Thought I would join in the hope that I can gain some advice in restoring my newly acquired 1972 CB750 K2 , reg number - MGK 136L . I purchased it this year having recently retired , as I fancied a project , although I've never done one before . It has had quite a bit done to it over the last 10 years , (all receipts present) , but the crank and camshaft + carriers were all u/s due to oil starvation . A friend of mine has almost finished rebuilding the engine , and I have replaced the rear shockers ,handlebars , clock faces and restored the seat , but there is still quite a bit to do. I am currently trying to remove the POR15 tank sealer which has bubbled up in the bottom of the tank . Caswell recommended 2litres of their tank sealer stripper to remove it , but it has been in the tank for 6 days now without much success .  I assume that this topic has probably been covered before , but any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated .
It would be great to hear from anyone who recognises MGK 136L . I have received the previous owners' information from DVLA , but any extra info would be great .
Many thanks , Russ.
