Misc / Open / stupid prices from Germany
« on: January 24, 2024, 04:24:20 PM »
Have you noticed lots of ebay ads from Germany for used parts at really stupid high prices? So ridiculous that surely no-one would buy them? 550 alternator cover £334, sump £92.45 master cyl also £92.45! if it was ultra rare stuff fair enough but just average used parts.

CB500/550 / plastic chainguard renovation
« on: November 18, 2023, 03:46:36 PM »
My chainguard off Lazarus was a bit battered so sanded it down to a reasonable smoothness but has left the plastic quite dull even when polished with plastic dressing. I don't really want to paint it so has anyone got any tips?

CB500/550 / sticker locations
« on: November 06, 2023, 01:36:41 PM »
Exiting times with Lazarus, putting the caution stickers on the frame that I got from Piki. Would like the correct places to put them, I have the helmet lock ones, and the battery caution plus the exhaust warning. Photos would be good. I do also have the helmet warning but don't think I will fit it. Thanks to Piki for supplying all the decals including the tank stripes, and also to Bryan for another sticker which will be revealed later!

CB500/550 / silicone or standard brake fluid
« on: October 11, 2023, 07:45:49 PM »
Just rebuilding the caliper and master cyl on Lazarus, using red rubber grease to assemble and all new parts, the question is should I use silicone fluid, is it compatable with red grease and does it cause any problems with bleeding on our old bikes? Does it have any effect on the feel?

« on: July 27, 2023, 02:22:25 PM »
working on my 500 electrics and found the wiring diagrams are often american or europe types which have some differences. I have a handbook that has the correct UK diagram so i scanned it and printed it out to make it easier to read with my old eyes. If anyone needs it I can upload it or email for you to print out.

Misc / Open / sending petrol tank to australia
« on: May 10, 2023, 03:02:02 PM »
Had an enquiry from new member for a petrol tank i am selling, but did not realise he was in australia. Has anyone had experience of sending a fuel tank there as i am worried that it would be banned goods due to having had fuel in it. Also which courier would be best. I have tried the search function but no success.

Desperately Seeking!! / speedo rev counter mounting bracket
« on: May 02, 2023, 12:17:35 PM »
As title I need the flat bracket that mounts the clocks on the 500 as lazarus had a lashed up bracket fitted. It is the uk smaller instruments type. Also i might need a speedo if anyone has a spare.

CB500/550 / central wheel services
« on: March 25, 2023, 09:41:10 AM »
I am in the process of rebuilding Lazarus's wheels and ordered stainless spokes from cws via ebay. Front ones seem to be ok but having some problems with the rear. Spokes looked to be the correct ones but the nipples supplied did not fit the spokes at all, the nipple thread was too small. However the outer part of the nipple was too large to go through the hole in the rim, so got in touch with cws, and they asked me to send them back which cost me £9 recorded delivery. I am using standard hub and new oem DID rims, but they seem to be having difficulty matching spokes, to get the nipples to fit the rim means the spokes would have to be too thin for a 500. I have done wheels before with no problem using mild steel spokes from Silvers so not sure why it is a problem as I am sure they have sold many sets before. Anyone had similar problems?

CB500/550 / rear sprocket size
« on: March 14, 2023, 05:56:40 PM »
Just assembling my rear hub, and I have a new sprocket which is a 37tooth which I believe is a 550 item, the 500 should have a 34 tooth. My question is would it make much difference in the real world if I fitted it?

CB500/550 / rear hub snag
« on: March 11, 2023, 12:55:15 PM »
ok so i am rebuilding the rear hub on my 500 and have hit a snag. It is a refurbished hub with all new bearings and cush drive rubbers, the issue is when I try to replace the sprocket carrier assembly. If i use the d ring seal the carrier will not sit down enough even when i tighten the retainer ring down as tight as i can get it. If assembled without the seal everything looks fine. Is the seal too thick? is it necessary at all?
help please!

CB500/550 / rear hub o ring
« on: February 14, 2023, 05:31:51 PM »
On the subject of rear hubs a while ago someone had some D rings made and i bought 2, one for Lazarus and a spare. Almost ready to re assemble but they are nowhere to be found, I am worried I may have thrown them out by mistake. Did anyone else have a spare they could sell me or remember who it was who organised them?

Member 4 Sales / CB 550 F or K petrol tank
« on: January 18, 2023, 08:24:32 PM »
I have decided to sell some of my spares stash to raise some money for the rebuild of my 500 four ' Lazarus'. I have a good solid petrol tank to fit the 550 F1 F2 and K3 with the appropriate paint jobs. It is plain orange but will need spraying, I did clean the interior and swilled with diesel to keep it from rusting. I also have a fuel Tap, cap and flap, and also a brand new Lock assembly in honda bag with keys and we all know how rare they are! £220 ono for the lot, will get some pics tomorrow.
