Despite not wanting another project after selling my 500 four I ended up buying a pair of goldwings and extra spares as a job lot. One is complete but tatty, the other is in many pieces. not sure what the plan is, but first I am trying to get the blue one going to assess what I have then decide if to sell one to fund the other. Any other Goldwing owners on here? They do only have one cam per side! I have started by removing the carbs to clean them, don't look too bad in the one I have opened.

story so far, 500 four 1974, rebuilt and on the road. I have an issue with a flat spot as I pull away from a standstill or low speed, it hesitates badly unless I give it lots of revs, sometimes even cuts out. carbs have been cleaned and new gaskets and o rings, all jets clear and correct numbers. Timing has been checked, valves are correct gap, new clean petrol. otherwise it runs well, over 3000 revs it goes very well, goes better when colder, worse when hot. I have synchronised the carbs and tried the air screws at various settings from half a turn to two turns out. standard aircleaner with new filter. no air leaks. So where do I go next, should I try changing the needle settings?

My son in law is thinking of getting a 125 to use for work and wants me to help him get a cheap one and do it up. I know nothing about modern bikes after about 1980 so could use some advice on what to go for (preferably a Honda)He is a big lad so scooters no good, I know cg125s are good but can be expensive, so any ideas welcome.

my 500 has got lots of crud getting through to the carbs causing blockages. I have cleaned tank and it is pretty good inside except for the seams and the odd spot of rust. I have read that vinegar will dissolve rust but is this true? or any other method that is proven to work. I don't think it is bad enough to need a sealant so look forward to your ideas.

I have bought another project from ebay, its a 550 imported from the USA. I got it as it looked so original and the chrome is all very good, even though it has some bits missing I have some already and the expensive bits are all there. I think I will not restore it, just re-commission it and keep its patina. I have the NOVA details so will have to go through the registration process, not looking forward to that! I have checked the frame number and it seems to be a K0 model built 5/74 can anyone confirm this? chassis number cb550-1028256 cheers, Mick

Well this is what happens when you have some spare time and a Honda engine, I was just going to clean and paint but decided to strip it down to check the condition as it is an unknown. The hardest thing was getting the barrels off, they were stuck, the rest of the strip down went very well. It is in pretty good condition, crank is good and gears seem ok except the centre selector is badly worn, anyone have a spare? Will replace all gaskets and seals, also primary and camchains. will keep me busy!

Anyone recognise this brake plate, it uses same shoes as my 500 and 550s so think it is a Honda, but what model?

What is wrong with me! despite having no time or money and a half rebuilt 500/4 in the garage I have bought another 500 from ebay! It is roadworthy and has an mot but needs painting and chrome items replacing or re-chroming. My plan is to swap the best bits from my other bike and make a decent bike for the summer, and probably sell the half done bike to get some money back. Ebay has a lot to answer to!

Hi all the 500/4 rebuild has stalled a bit due to no time or money but I did spend a bit of time the other day trying to fit the front mudguard. Problem is it is one I bought from ebay, in very good condition but seems to be slightly too big. Mountings fit fine to the forks but there seems to be a big gap between the tyre and mudguard, so much so I thought the front wheel or tyre was too small but its the same with a spare wheel I have. I could file the mounting holes to modify but don't realy want to, could it be a 750 item, I thought they were interchangeable.
