CB750 / Re: CB 750s not selling?
« on: August 16, 2017, 03:07:30 PM »
Personaly,
I see a great deal of USA imports flooding the market and this may 'dilute' the value of K's across the board - particularly K0's at the moment. There is quite a lot of choice of all imported models up to K6's and if you pick up a good one (??!!) at a reasonable price, K3 and upwards, one then has the benefit of Honda's improvements/mods. Except for the far too quiet 341's and the reduction of intake roar - sacrilous in my opinion!
I beleive there is still a lot of valued mileage in the K's in general, particularly the Brit ones (rarity being the primary reason) but, as has been said before here, it's down to the standard of the restoration and how much work you may be faced with having to correct items yourself, as I've found to my cost previously on my US K0 - God, the carbs! Got it sorted in the end. Engine work - new timing chain but still with the old tensioner!! Much quieter after that. But left me uneasy..

CB750 / Re: Engine and frame no's
« on: August 16, 2017, 02:50:03 PM »
Hi Neil.
Yes, indeed, it's on an 'M'. Even both engine and Frame no's are consistent with the K2, reg, and the V5. I wonder if the largish separation on these two numbers makes a difference to it's value? It certainly raises my eyebrow but not excessively.. I think a phone call to the DVLA may help. Anyone else have any ideas? Been here before?
It's a pity the Brit market never received any engines with the improved upgrades, as in the next year, on the K3.. The European market semed far less important than the USA and Germany one. A long wait until the K6!

CB750 / Engine and frame no's

Hi guys,
Although I found the old thread topic on this, 1, it's more then 120 days old and 2, it doesn't quite answer my question. The site recommends I start a new thread again.
Bit confused on a K2 I'm looking at. Anyway the numbers are :frame 2074937 and engine 2049772. I've been doing some research and it seems possible to have numbers out (although still in the K2 era) as much as a few thousand. In this case probably around 2 - 4 months apart. I've had a K0 and I have a K3 presently (returned to UK spec) and the numbers in both of these were/are much closer as many of your threads confirm previously with theirs. Any thoughts? What if you were looking to buy this bike? the V5 confirms these numbers.
Finally the MOT history contradicts the reg date claimed by the present owner, DVLA : July 1971 owner/V5 March 1974, in Scarborough. Do they make mistakes? Anyone come across this?
  Thanks, Nigel.

Good to see you at mine the next morning Julie and Graham. (Thanks for the connectors!)
Hope we can all meet up again next year and take on board Juilie's suggestions.
My K0 and the exhausts have a new owner and I have suggested he keeps an eye on this fab and helpful site for support/advice, should he need it.
Just the Bomber, K1 and the Triumph TR6 now.....😔 keeping those but I always keep an eye out for a project...👀

Sorry I haven't got to this thread earlier guys. Bloody work and servicing and riding the K0!
Really chuffed to see so much interest in this event from yourselves. As the organiser, along with Sammy's, of course you will be able to line up in your own group!😎 I will make sure that as you arrive, you will all be lined up together in the forcourt
Perhaps you can confirm you're likely to be there a couple of days before? I'd be most grateful. Any of you coming down the day before? Steph and myself would love to meet up on the 750/550 and maybe a sneaky beer to boot in the Forest!😋
Please call me if you have a question or two or any suggestions you may have for either day?
   Nige and Steph.

CB750 / Fitting of the tanks lower trims.
« on: April 17, 2015, 05:00:51 PM »
Hi all.
Need your help again! Has anyone any experience of fitting the lower tanks trims? I see that my K0 has a unique part number. Are they different from K1/2/3/4's? I just can't work out how these trims are able fit into the 4 welded slots at the base of the tank? They face outwards. (It would work if they face vertically downwards) The trims I have supplied from Germany have a sever 'U' shape and just won't even look at these slots. I need a trim that has a sort of 90 degree angle to slide into these slots and then we may a flush fit? I have left them in boiling hot water and still do not become pliable. My last piece after a 2 year ongoing restoration and still the old girls baffles me! Thanks for any advice once again guys.

Thanks.
Will try to soak them in hot water but still don't see they hold on? Pain... May have to have a chat with a well reputed local trim man...
   Nige. Other ideas?

Trying to remain on the the theme of tank badges.
Does anyone know how I get to fit the the lower trims on the K0 tank? I have taken delivery of them from Germany, www.ac-motorrradeile.de and they just won't fits over the 4 'lugs' welded onto the base of the tank. They 'ping off'! The strip just isn't big enough and pliable enough to fit over them. Even when I force them over the lugs the trims are not flush with tank. These are the trims that have no black strip in them of course. How do I 'glue' them on? Do I soak these stops/trims in hot water? But how do they stay on? These are £35.00 new and I found a pair on eBay NOS for a K0 for £130.00!!!
Is ther a special technique for getting these trims on these tanks?
These were lost in the paint shop, hence the problem. This is the last piece of restoration! It's never over until the fat lady...!
Thanks guys for any help here...

CB750 / Re: Carb rubbers
« on: April 05, 2015, 05:25:31 PM »
I'm relieved we are looking more closely at air leaks.😳 although I could be wrong of course.
Bear in mind that the hose clips supplied by Silver and others (from a realiable source) may a little too big and one shouldn't really be down to the last turn on those clips. You should have a least further 5/6 turns left. How do you know it's at the right tension when fully screwed in? I have learn't from this - air leaks are the scourge of a smooth running engine.
I really hope you are now heading in the right direction. Good luck.

Nige. Ps, as I said earlier, the Dave Silver rubbers (and airfbox ones) are working perfectly. If I have any rough running or incresing tick over or reluctant to return to tick over I immeadiatly focus my attention to those rubbers! I re tentision/tighten those clips backed up with carb cleaner leak testing, providing that doesn't damage the engine paint! Thread Locking those screws is not a bad idea..
