New Member Introductions / Re: New member intro

Welcome to the forum.
I bought a brand new CB500 K2 in 1974 and really liked it - the best of the early Honda Fours in my opinion.
I now have a 1974 CB550 which I am recommissioning, as well as the immaculate CB350 pictured on my profile.
Next I hope to acquire a really good CB500 Four (71 or 72).

Hi Peter and welcome. In my experience the DVLA are pretty quick these days with new registrations - just so long as the paperwork is all in order. Normally I get the v5 back in 5-7 days of sending.

That's good news as the website states up to 6 weeks. Thanks for the update.
I'll post here when I get a response.

Just a quick hello to the forum.

I've already had some welcome advice with reference to dating and registering the CB550 I have recently bought.

I have now recommissioned the bike and sent off the registration documents. All I have to do now is waaaaiit for the DVLA to kick in to gear and hopefully I'll be on the road for April.

Only today I have bought another bike - a CB350F in fantastic condition and with only 14000 miles on the clock. I don't know what to do - ride it or wrap it in cotton wool. What would you do?

CB350/400 / Re: Nice Project 350

This looks a decent project bike for someone as the condition reminds me of the 350 twin I got from them last year. Initially, It looks tatty but look at the state of the chrome on it  (rims guards etc. ). Thing is it does not have standard exhausts but if it did it woud be advertised at a much higher price but the exhausts would probably  still need expensive rechroming, if you can find someone to do it. ( have been quoted 125GBP each for my CB350 twin ones C/W downpipe but only after he has left them  filled with hot caustic soda  for a month).

You can get some good projects at DK Motorcycles. I have recently purchased a CB550 from them and it is coming along nicely. You do have to do the maths with regard to renovating though. The carburetors, and engine are the main concern, as if the bike is a US import, it could have been standing for years, so it is best if you can visit the showroom to check out the bike first and make a list of what you will have to spend on it.

If you let me know the price. I will be in a position to let you know if I can afford them before you spend more time trying to load photos.

Thanks

I don't know what the Melbur wheels look like. Do they fit straight on with no messing please?
If you have photos I might be interested if you are not too far away.

I bought a new 1974 CB500 four in (would you believe) 1974 when mag alloy wheels for bikes were first making an appearance.
I was lucky enough to know someone who had a contact at the factory in Mildenhall and managed to get a set at a discount - they looked great when fitted.
Today I still like the 1972 K2 CB500 four and want to change the wheels (and possibly forks if necessary) to alloy wheels, but alas can't find any for a bike this old.
An alternative might be a set of Honda Superdream wheels/forks with Comstar wheels, hence my post to see if anyone on the forum has done this and if so, how did you do it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
