Title: Passing/Horn Switch and Trip Meter Knob
Post by: SeanFD on July 08, 2020, 12:41:47 PM
Anyone know where I can source suitable knobs for the LHS horn/passing switch

and the odometer knob on the Speedo?

I know this one looks fine, but I need to take it off and I also know that this can be challenging.

I’ve checked on EBay with no luck.

When I bought my K3 it was missing from my bike. Nearly 30 years later I sourced a replacement handlebar unit through the channels of the sohc forum. I decided to restore my bike and source anything that was needing replaced or missing. Sorry I must add it didn’t take me 30 years to find a button, it just happened to be a considerable time lapsed until I decided to do something with the bike. Good luck! (I was referring to the horn/pass switch button)

If you want to replace the grommet ideally you need to take the gauge apart as the remains of the grommet will be glued to the inside of the body. You can remove the knob be cutting it with a thin Dremel rotary saw blade, spread it slightly and pull it off.
When you are done push the knob back on and run a bead of two part resin glue in the saw cut. The knob wasn't glued on originally
it's just pressed on the shaft which has splines.

Hopefully I’ll find one before 2050! 😂
