Dave... I’m not here to ‘dis’ RS paints - but take care to (1) ensure the 2K clearcoat overlaps the base colour, (2) consider not painting the tank neck, (3) don’t brim fill your tank & (4) use the centre stand wherever possible. My tank professionally painted at significant cost - made me bloody weep. Good luck, I’m sure Menno / Julie can chip in with better knowledges. Simon
Oh Simon, that is a shame, I bet you were gutted.

Actually no, I was mistaken. 1st: 30th July 1979 showing 7508 miles Last: 27th August 2002 showing 8729 miles
Not used since 2003. Go figure? It must have been in front of the telly and not ridden much.
That's an average of 53 miles per year, ha ha. Maybe it's 26.5 miles to the MOT station or it's a load of bolleau. Time will tell when the engine is stripped and inspected.
Sounds unlikely that it's genuine but some people just do incredibly low mileage but it is very very rare. Most owners that bought a CB Honda in 1972 would have done the 7508 miles by the following weekend after delivery We know someone who does 2 miles a year on his old BMW bike, a mile each way to be MOT'd.

Thanks Julie, that's very helpful. The speedo clearly has a blue face but the tacho has a green one. The mileage is verified with every MOT until 2003 when it was taken off the road, so I'm puzzled as to why it would be blue?
So you have every MOT from it's first in 1975, (Im assuming its a 72 reg) until 2003 ?.

Sorry, got side-tracked there but what I was trying to show is that the faces were never the same colour in the first place to look at in some lights. Hope this helps.

They fade in the sun over time, the tacho fades more than the speedo. These are 18,000 mile faded but original faces. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

These are new clocks, not refaced. One photo shows them as the eye sees the faces (very similar colours). The other photo is with a flash which shows them as blue and green. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum. Lots of forum members in, around and close to Ashford. I used to be one of them, lived at Dungeness but moved to Lincolnshire 2 1/2 years ago. What's the state if your bikes and plans....if any 😄😄

Out on Millie the CB550 Mongrel today. Wow, that bike is soooooo much fun and most definitely the best handling bike I have ridden for a long, long time. Trig was on the Thundersplat today, so I was playing catchup most of the time. I had to ride her very hard at times even to keep up with him and I still failed but hey, I had brilliant fun trying.

Changed my clutch cable, stopped my misfire and Rebuilt my 550 master cylinder last night What a pig of a job as I bought a pattern rebuild kit and half of it didn't fit. So I treated my self to run out this morning. No idea how many miles I did but I have used two and a half tankful's and now ache like feck. She makes a lovely noise at 6000+rpm
Ache....god help you when you get old, young Mick. Nice that you had time for a good ride.

Sorry to hear that Pete, I hope you find your mojo again very soon. If not, I feel I will have to do another engine strip, assessment and build thread to get you (and others that appear to have come to a complete standstill) motivated again. Summer Hollibobs not far away now.......something to look forward too.

Yes, it only asks the question if there is no MOT on bike at the time of Taxing. If it is MOT'd, it is irrelevant so it doesn't trigger the question.
