Title: Chrome cleaning
Post by: Triumphant59 on May 06, 2019, 09:33:39 PM
My original exhaust is in reasonable condition but has the usual rust. Can anyone recommend any domestic cleaners used with fine steel wool maybe that will remove the rust and staining?

Toothpaste and plastic bath cleaners are both very, very, very mild abrasive. Shouldn't scratch the chrome but maybe not aggressive enough to do what you want.

Caravan cleaning paste it a step up toward the "harder" stuff,  again for resin based surfaces.

I use 0000 wire wool on mine, used dry with no cleaning liquid. It removes the small speckles of rust but not the chrome.

Chemically,  you could try limescale remover.

But you'd need to verify any effect on something to assess it prior to subjecting something critical to trial.
