Hi,
Looking at the clutch on my 400 today, theirs the usual play between the gear and basket which I am not bothered about,
but what worries me is the basket has scoring/grinding marks near the rivets on the inside, there not deep only just detectable by finger nail, should I be worried, has someone opened it. I've tapped the rivets and their not moving. hopefully the photos show it.

Interesting. They are not rotational marks 🤔

Somebody been at it with a file !

Those rivets look like they've only got a flange on the one side and are a loose fit. It's been buggered about with.

Looks like it's been done by PO 'working' on it. I had the problem with play in the gear which was causing 'slap' similar to a slack chain. I bought a s/h one off ebay with very little play which cured the problem

Has someone got a picture of the inside of the clutch outer, so I can see what the rivets should look like.

Looks standard to me

Thanks for the pictures Graham and for all the comments, I think the rivets look the same flush with the surface, so I will clean and put it back in.
Cheers Neil

Could the "file" marks be someone's attempt to clean up the slots the clutch plates engage with?
