Hi Brian
Thanks for the kind comment Got the cooler and sandwich plate from here https://www.d-mengineering.co.uk/en/ Don’t bother with the braided hose kit that is offered as in the end it was easier to buy all the separate fittings and a hose kit from eBay and make up the required hoses to suit my final cooler and sandwich plate set up / position as both my sandwich connections as you can see are at six o’oclick and then I have used two 180 degree bends to return the hoses back up vertically to the cooler The kit I used was 3/8 (6AN) Also did not bother with mounting brackets as thought they were a tad expensive so made a cooler mount at work which I think was much better As for temps I fitted this as a pre cursor to the 460 engine I am current building as I was told by DM that oil cooling on the standard engine is on the limit so a oil cooler for a big bore engine was a must have Best wishes always Al Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalki on 33

Project Board / twin disc« on: July 23, 2022, 09:04:43 PM »
An interesting point of note is for the Yamaha RDLC the 250 single disc is fitted with a 1/2” Master cylinder and the 350 twin disc a 5/8 M/C but for better feel and less wooden brakes it’s common practice to swap the 5/8 unit to the 1/2 unit
Yes you get slightly more lever movement due to the reduced swept volume of the master cylinder with the smaller bore but the braking is much less wooden Incidentally for my RD I am running a 14mm M/C but also have two four pot callipers too and floating discs so much better than the original 1 pot sliding caliper per side acting on a solid disc And on my CB400F twin disc conversion even though I have a extra caliper I have kept the original M/C and not needed to increase my M/C bore size to allow for the extra caliper Best wishes Al Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 35
Misc / Open / Re: Anyone seen this Yoshimura ?« on: June 11, 2022, 08:34:25 PM »I had one of those fairings on my cb125tdc back in 85It's horrible! Fairings didn't survive, no doubt, because they don't really flow with the 400/4 styling. Happy memories and the bike I passed my part 2 on all those years ago Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 36

I am sure the original Harrier was far more restrained. I like a modified bike but done in a subtle way. Think even my rear disc conversion would get lost in the styling Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 37
CB350/400 / Re: Carburettor throttle return spring« on: June 01, 2022, 02:54:34 PM »This was discussed at quite some length in one of my posts, it was the considered opinion that using a small split ring (like off a key ring) is a good solution, just slip it onto the end of the spring and the post it supposed to hang off. It has to be a small split ring though, any beach fisherman has a few in his tackle box as they come in handy for beach weights etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 38
CB350/400 / Re: Carburettor throttle return spring« on: June 01, 2022, 01:41:20 PM »Ok thanks for the replyHi AlI've fitted a less tight throttle spring on my 550/4 Mongrel because I found it a bit hard work after a few hours riding, it works a treat. I had to retain a bit of tension though as I don't have a return throttle cable fitted to this bike but this snaps back just perfect.Hi Julie I will measure mine and see what is out there Thanks again Al Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 39

EBay does not care what is going on
As long as it’s making money it will continue to turn a blind eye to scams like this As alway it’s a case of buyer beware and if it sounds too good to be true it’s most like is and it’s just a scam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 44
CB350/400 / Re: Plug opinions« on: April 27, 2022, 09:06:03 PM »Doesn't look bad to me, and if running/responding ok, no pinking etc, then appears to be all right. Thanks It was just a check as after the winter lay up it refused to start and just flooded / had wet plugs so as a precaution did a normal carb clean and rebuild and after four new plugs fired up ok but like to do a plug check just to confirm all is ok and plugs seem cleaner than my check last year when I rejetted to 38”s for the pilots 45

Quick question
Come back for a quick long high speed thrash and just doing a plug check and wondered if I am running slightly lean or OK? Nice clean electrode with a small amount of soot on the outer edges so think it look ok but would value another opinion Best wishes Al Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
