I ended up with everything in water baths and added boiling water to get the desired temperature.

I used these guys for a plating kit as there support came well recommend. Preparation is the key and a controllable power supply as you need to be able to apply 100 mAmps per square inch of surface. Plating in winter can be a problem as getting and keeping everything to temperature is a bigger challenge as you will need good ventilation as well.

Oppps, forgot to add https://www.gaterosplating.co.uk

Alas with the threat of redundancy I can’t even think about it, however with the time spent on SORN would the piston rings and bore not require attention before using? I guess an assessment could be done with a good camera through the spark plug holes.

I think you may have misinterpreted the picture, it’s the latest Health and Safety advice in relation to Hazardous Materials.

Americans.....

I was in a hotel in Paris at breakfast a year or two ago with all Europeans dressed to impress, when in walks an American. You can spot them a mile off, jeans and T shirt!  Anyway once he’s done the first buffet explore he sits and I get a view of his T shirt. 12 various hand gun images printed on the front, good old subtle red neck. On second view I see some writing below the images, Embrace Diversity. Ok some have a sense of humour.

Ohhhh, what horrors lurk inside? If it’s just chiselled tappet covers and a bit of orange gunge on the oil filter and joints , ho hi, you’ve got a great spare. Have fun.

Misc / Open / We can play (Within reason)?

Well it looks like we can scuff the tyres at last.

Here is a link to Bennett’s insurance update,

Do you think this means we can play? Just popped into the garage and pit the trickle charge on the battery.

Good for the 1st 500 miles then filter change and oil change to your preferred choice was my thought after a full rebuild.

They have two wheels so that will do me. I don’t think there is a better forum for support in the technical area in the UK. I’m sure you will weaken and buy one soon.

Hi Chris,

A warm welcome to the mad world of SHOC. You will find a wealth of data in Aladdins cave and heaps of good advice on the forum. I’m around the corner in Rugby and if we are ever allowed out to play I’d be happy to chew the fat .

Cheers,
Greg

If I remember correctly as I had the same issue they are marked with 1 and 4 on one, with the other two having 2 and 3. I only spotted this on about the 4th attempt. I’m sure someone will be along shortly for the carb overflow lengths, I threaded them through and cut at what looked right. The bottom of the tube also needs to be cut at an angle.

Cheers,
Greg

Thanks Bryan, I’ll do some more research and post on an American forum which usually has some good advice. I need to get the bores measured and form a plan
