CB350/400 / Rear sprocket guard
« on: December 18, 2020, 11:45:12 AM »
Hi good people, has anyone found a way of getting a rear sprocket guard sourced and fitted. I am aware there is a reproduction one but it is very expensive for what it is. I am sure one could be fashioned from another bike, anyone done this? I have a guard from another Honda in the garage but it is too small for this job.

CB350/400 / Weak spark advice please
« on: March 23, 2017, 04:32:01 PM »
Ok so the bike was running fine last season, left it neglected over the winter. It will not start now. There is a weak spark at the plug, fuel seems fine, carbs all good with fresh fuel. It has new coils, leads NGK caps, points, condensers and plugs. I am stumped! Probably missing something obvious but just cant see it at the moment.  The coils are aftermarket, however it makes not difference when I try an original set. Any advice will be gratefully received.

CB350/400 / Instuments
« on: July 18, 2016, 09:45:44 PM »
Has been a long haul but finally got the bike back together and I think looking pretty good. I am stating to get picky with little bits so will be back to DS for another credit card hammering! What I want to ask you guys is what is the best way to refurbish the instruments? The speedometer is not to bad but the tacho has the washed out orange section and a rusted screw on the inside. I see that ebay has the overlays but as far as I can tell the clocks would need to cracked open at the crimps? Has anyone done this<
Thanks again

CB350/400 / Carb repair kit
« on: June 27, 2016, 10:31:27 PM »
Can anyone recommend a decent carb repair kit for 400/4? I found a kit by "Legend_Motorcycles"  on ebay, states made in Japan but not sure of the quality.
Thanks

CB350/400 / Addressing the smoking
« on: April 17, 2016, 04:54:29 PM »
Hi there, have not been near the 400f for months, back now to solve the smoking issue. Removed head and barrels to find a damaged scraper ring on cylinder number 1, looks like it was damaged on installation. There was also a missing circlip on the gudgeon pin!, amazingly the bore is ok but I intend to have them all honed and new rings fitted. I have a couple of questions for you experienced guys.
How can I tell if it has been rebored previously? I was thinking there would be a stamp on the piston, but can't see anything.
The other thing is I can only find 11 head washers and I suspect one of them has fallen down the cam chain channel, if this is the case could I retrieve it through the sump?
The internals of the engine do look in really great shape, virtually no wear on the cam and it also looks like new pistons. Any other advice on what I should do at this stage would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

CB350/400 / Motad Swoopy Pipe Exhaust
« on: October 05, 2015, 04:54:08 PM »
Hi Guys, I just bought a new motad full exhaust (copy of the Honda system). My bike has a period Micron exhaust, which looks OK apart from some inner swollen rings on the can. I just wanted to ask if the Motad system works well and looks right on the 400f? Also I believe it is the same system sold by DSS?   I should add I don't have the exhaust in my hands yet!

CB350/400 / Hello, I have a 400 at last
« on: April 04, 2015, 09:22:34 PM »
Hi everyone, I am changing my status from lurker to active member. The reason for the lurking was that I was in negotiation for my CB400 and did not want to say anything until I was sure it was mine! I finally sealed the deal and brought her home last night on my trailer. The previous owner had it for 20 years and most of that time was spent restoring it in his front room. At present it is a non runner, I think the coils/ht leads are to blame. I also have plans to change a few things like the exhaust. I am looking forward to sorting the wee thing out and getting her on the road. I was also given three boxes of spares with the bike, have not gone through it all yet so not sure what is there exactly.
