Does anyone have any tips of how to remove the magnetism from tools? I've just spent 30 minutes trying to locate a 2.5mm e-clip back into the kill switch. Every tool from my tool box appears to now be magnetic, great for picking the clip up but useless trying to place it!
It appears over the years small things like screwdrivers and pliers have somehow become magnetised. Does anyone know how to remove it?

I have seen, but can't remember where, a plastic block with magnets in it that magnetizes a screwdriver passed one way through and de-magnetizes it if passed the other way through

No idea if it works. And maybe only for small items.

I was going to suggest a/c coil or maybe heat to reduce it.

That's the one I saw but somewhere other than Screwfix, don't matter its the same thing. Also don't know if it works but not horrendous cost to find out.
EDIT found it on CPC Farnell where I have an account---£1.98 inc vat but then postage on top, if you want one next time I order I will get you one and post it on for cost

I used to use one of these when I had a proper job, for use after using the magnetic table on surface grinders.

I have this problem at work, I fix MRI scanners for a living.
The magnetic field can't simply be turned off so I have a full set of non magnetic Titanium tools.
Horrendously expensive though, 1 spanner is a few hundred quid.

The firm i work for moves several mobile MRI for the Cobalt Unit Cheltenham and the fitters hate working on them!

We worked with high power electron tubes with with strong permanent or electromagnets. so always used beryllium copper tools, the type that used to be used in the mining industry, but they were not that hard wearing and re-grinding was to be avoided!

I have a beryllium hammer, was warned that any tools made from it must not be ground.
