Not exactly want you need to see John but.

Might solve the problem but bloody hell that's expensive.

The CB1300 failed the ULEZ test and that has FI but the later version 09 onward passed as it's Euro3 rated. See if you can find what Euro rating the VFR is and that should give you an idea of pass/fail before you spend money.

Always had all electric Steve. For some reason gas just sends me to sleep, I always have the gas disconnected in any house I move into. Heating done by storage radiators and I'll be looking into getting a heat pump if the figures work out. Read the other day that the government want to phase out Economy 7 by 2030 as the coal powered generating stations close down, doesn't make sense to do that, others sources of power can't be shut off, like wave power, waves ain't stopping just because it's nighttime.

I had a CB1300 complete header setup done in Kermacrome which is chrome Ceramic coating. It looked pretty good TBH, not anywhere near as bright as chrome but it lasted and never rusted. It did dull down over time but it was easy to get it to shine again, a little wire wool and solvol. Was still looking great when a very nice lady didn't see me coming and wrote the bike off, didn't even say sorry. To this day I have no idea what she looks like.

Ok, a confession. I took my restored 500 k2 into town in the summer. Anyway, I was constantly worried about the attention it attracted. I returned from ‘shopping’ to find some little snot trying to Knick my freshly rechromed points cover. Anyway, I ran at him and gave him a hefty shove and was about to administer some ‘northern sole’ to his arse when I caught sight of the crayon and paper. He was taking a ‘rubbing’ for his sixties/70s are class project.🫣😳

I think we all want to know if you said sorry and let him complete his little rubbing session.

I wonder if Yamiya have an agreement with Honda to reproduce certain items? They seem to be able to find stock that others are now struggling to find.

No, I was just clever, I always take the longest term deal, I've never had electricity go down, it's always up so I like to lock it in for as long as I can. Plus no gas in my house at all, totally electric.

Anytime Ian, I have hundreds of the damned things. I might not have the exact size if it's a rare one and I've got rid of it already though.

No standard 8 x 1.25 bolts Ted. Use a washer under the head though.

I had a conversation with Peter Kent about powder coating the bowls and he said the paint could be so thick it made getting the ring back on difficult. How was yours?

I might go for ceramic coating as an alternative, I find normal spray paint to easy to scratch and the positioning of the clocks leaves them open to that happening.

Nice work BTW.

TBH Ian it was a real cosmetic change between the F1 and the F2 and it looked so much better for it. The F1 was looking it's age, bellows on forks was rather old fashioned by the time it came out. So the F2 got really nice paintwork, a nice contrasting stripe instead of the bland all one colour, lost the bellows so it showed the fork stanchions, of course this meant more damage to the forks but that's progress I suppose. The clocks were changed to blue rather than green, looked better at night. I seem to recall it also lost the front brace off the front mudguard, again more modern. IMO they should also have added a second disc but although all the mounting points were there they seem to have backed away from that idea, possibly because of the greater weight made the bike slower and it was in real competition with the GT550. Can't remember the Yamaha competition, possibly the XS500, which frankly was an awful model.

You are correct Ian, the F1 did come with the 500 genny cover. Never noticed that before, I was more interested in the F2 version as it was far prettier.  ;D ;D

Ordered some new felt mops as my old trusty one has decided to spin on the shaft. Felts are really not meant to be fitted to the extension shafts so it wasn't unexpected for it to start slipping. The new ones have leather centres fitted so that should help them to keep from slipping. Also trying a much harder density felt mop to see how that performs, should be here in a few days so I may have a couple of days polishing. I'll let you know how the new mops perform.
