I think it's a Kawasaki chain rather than Yamaha

I use the RAC which covers me for any vehicle as a driver/rider or passenger.  I'd never bothered with breakdown cover during 45 years on the road The first year came free when I bought a new bike a couple of years ago. I had a puncture miles from anywhere in the Cambrian Mountains and the RAC came to the rescue so I decided to continue with the cover. It costs £75 pa

I followed Bryan's advice and used a Kawasaki primary chain on my CB500 K1. Here's a link to the supplier I used.

Many brake hose manufacturers e.g Hel, Goodrich use PTFE inner liners for their hoses. So personally, I wouldn’t be too concerned about degradation.

PTFE tape cured a weeping bleed nipple for me.

You can get small quantities from Xpower Engines on EBay (£7.95)

Thanks Oddjob
If it’s ok with you, I’ll get in touch if I manage to get my hands on the airbox for a decent price

Thanks for the info Bryan. Are the brackets something that could be fabricated relatively easily? I’m not concerned about authenticity as the bike was too far gone for a full on restoration without spending a fortune.

Thanks Oddjob.
Let’s hope the bidding isn’t too fierce.

Got my COVID vaccine today. Should I be worried?

CB500/550 / Air box etc
« on: March 18, 2021, 07:50:16 PM »
Could anyone please tell me if these air box/filter parts for a CB550 listed on EBay will fit a CB500 K1! Some of the parts numbers differ for the two bikes but I was wondering if perhaps they could be made to fit without to much effort.

My project bike was fitted with pod filters and from what I have read from most of the experts on the forum, these bikes don’t like pod filters!

The cost of new air box/filter parts are crazy and they seem to be unavailable anyway. After months of checking EBay, this is the first near complete set of bits I have come across.

I just put a piece of wood between the headers and the front platten  to spread the load. Some bike manuals e.g xjr1300 and Hayabusa state that the exhausts can be used as jacking points and I have done so . I don't know if this is so for my CB500 but it works for me.

Thanks for the pics, did you have to remove the exhaust or was it off for other reasons?

No need to remove exhaust. The bike is having a total rebuil and I haven't refitted the exhaust yet.
