CB750 / Re: Getting cb750k on centre stand
« on: August 09, 2018, 09:20:33 PM »
Simon, i'm really pleased you are having difficulty in getting your cb750 on the centre stand, because it means that i am not the only wimp on this forum.

I too am having great difficulty in getting my newly acquired American import K1 on the centre stand. Back in 1973 i had a new K2 and had no problem in getting that on the stand, ok, i was 25 back then, now i'm 70 but i don't think i've lost that much muscle and having owned over 100 bikes since i was 16 i don't think it's a technique issue.

CB750 / Re: Which Engine Oil should I use ?
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:16:45 PM »
So there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer as to which is the best oil for the cb750, should we use part synthetic or non synthetic, premium priced or economy, i'm just as confused now as when i first started to read this thread :-\, and i was hoping there was a consensus as to the best oil to use,

Haha cheers.... they always say you can’t polish a turd.... but you can roll it in glitter

I think Gary Glitter was already a turd,

Gotta say i don't normally like 4 into 1 pipes, but on yours it looks good, very nice job and unusual colour.

So am i to understand that there is no pressurised oil feed to the top end except for the jets, therefore basic splash lubrication Briggs & Stratton style, if so quite primitive.

No, i havn't timed it, it just seems like a couple of minutes, thinking about it, 2 mins is a log time, so tomorrow i will time it accurately from cold.

The last time i had a cb750 was back in 1976 with a new K6, with a new bike i didn't worry about things like, is the oil circulating correctly, are the oil jets clear, but on reading some of the posts on this forum, it's now got me thinking about my bike, a 1971 K1 with 14000 miles on the clock, judging by the unrestored condition of the bike it could be genuine.
So this morning i took the front tappet covers off and started the bike from cold, it took a couple of minutes for oil to appear, i was expecting oil immediately, is this normal ?

I recently rebuilt the carbs on the K1 including setting the float hights, but couldn't run the bike untill the exhaust fiasco with David Silver was sorted out. Now after fitting a new set from CMS which fitted great, i took it for a ride, ten minutes into the ride it started to misfire running on two cylinders, managed to get it back home which was not easy in hilly Wales. Touching the silencers revealed that it was only running on 1 & 2, while rebuilding the carbs i replaced the fuel pipes from carbs to petrol tap as the old pipes were crumbling at the tap ends and leaking. The new pipes i got off ebay which were 5mm bore thin walled. What i discovered was one pipe feeding cylinders 3 & 4 had kinked on the bend close to the tap stopping the flow.
So i can't rely on this fuel pipe from ebay. where do you guys and gals  get your fuel line from, and would you use 5mm or 6mm.

And how about Charley Drake and Harry Worth, a type of comedians you don't see any more.
Sorry about hi-jacking the original welcome thread.

Welcome to the forum Sumpmagnet.
