CB350/400 / Re: Neutral switch wire
« on: February 23, 2014, 10:35:25 PM »
Thanks. Cleaned it up, big bright light and found the hole.

The bit of wire that came out is soldered together on the end. Is that enough on it's own or does it loop round the post as well?

Seems a bit Heath Robinson for a Honda, why not a more secure connection?

CB350/400 / Neutral switch wire
« on: February 22, 2014, 01:44:36 PM »
Working on the engine yesterday I broke the wire that connects to the neutral switch. The original wires are brittle and need changing.

The problem I have is seeing how the wire fixes to the switch. There's a small metal post that sticks out with a small spring on it, but no obvious ring connector or spade.

Can anybody help please?

A quick report from Stafford.

The Autojumble was 'interesting', lots of bent, rusty parts left out in the rain getting rustier!

There were a lot of Japanese models represented, not many Honda though. There was one stand specialising in Honda fours, but his prices were higher than DSS. DSS themselves were at the show in the main hall with a 400/4 on display. They hadn't brought much stock with them though.

In the Bonhams auction a 1973 CB350F went for £1035, an 81 CB750 Bol D'or for £575! The NR750 reached £57,500 - I didn't bid!

A lot of work there for a horrible looking bike. Solid wheels and fat tyres only work on cruisers.  ???

Thanks guys, I'll have a look and let you know how I get on.

Bonhams have a big private collection of bikes for auction including quite a few Hondas by the look of it.

"The collection includes numerous Hondas, ranging from the humble but design-classic Super Cub to the
NR750 and everything in between, including 10 unused monkey bikes and a number of exceptionally
early machines. Also on offer are a selection of early Suzukis, Kawasakis and Yamahas, a variety of
later 1970s and 80s classics, and two prototype engines – a sand cast CBX1000 and a CX500."

I'm starting to get stuck into my 400/4 project now, having done a lot of research on parts suppliers and what's needed.

Is the Stafford Classic Bike Show in October likely to have much in the way of 400/4 bits? A trip down from Scotland is a long way to travel if a wasted journey.
I'm looking for cafe racer parts as well.

Cheers, Gareth

Hi.  A Taffy living in Scotland where all the best roads are.  8)

Riding a Street Triple when I can.

Just bought a dismantled 400/4 which is nearly all there but has been garage stored for at least 10 years.

It needs a lot of work, but I will get it on the road eventually. I'm treating it as a long term project. I'm thinking Cafe racer at the moment. I will need advice from you guys at some point I'm sure.
