I've done that run Hubert - on the 'Wing and also on my C125 Super Cub and as you say, it's lovely!  We are so lucky with some great riding scenery and although not exactly on our doorstep, we don't have to ride out through very busy places to get there.

Aye Bryan,

I remember 'shelling' Honda plugs caps as a young apprentice back in the seventies...

I have a local source for most O rings

A company called Hayley Group

On a local industrial estate, the Hereford branch are really helpful,

Imperial, metric,fuel resistant etc,

And the bonus, normally a fraction of the cost of NOS,

Take a sample, and the item, like tappet cap ,they will find the size needed

One of my favourite rides is from Tyndrum heading east to Killin and then turning off at LixToll towards Aberfeldy, lunch in historic Kenmore by the castle gates and then into Aberfeldy turning right for Crieff over the high road and then back to Tyndrum and Oban..
It's a super ride riding on the hillside road alongside the length of Loch Tay....bet you've done that and more Gareth 😊👍

Yes they can, and were, back in the day we had one with a bent crank and taking the chance that it was maleable cast we had an approx 9 inch long bar turned so that an internal taper locked to the crank with an ht allen screw then carefull "whacked" the end with large hammer whilst clocking the bar on a turned portion concentric to the taper.
We got it to within 1 thou of concentric and the engine ran fine for as long as we had records of it(years)

Could a crank be damaged if the bike is dropped at high speed on the left (alternator) end? How many bikes did we see back in the day with chamfered alternator cases!

Thank you Ash👍.
Once I've put them into the battery box and attached the breather hoses to the plastic manifold below I can replace the plastic inner mudguard and the chrome half guard and get the wheel in👍.
