As you never know how accurate the gauge is, so long as they all have about the same pressure it should run fine.

Misc / Open / Re: New E10 petrol no good for older bikes
« on: March 06, 2020, 02:59:32 PM »
I've been using E10 on European trips for years in my 40 year old bikes, never had an issue. I put normal fuel in when back in UK so can't comment on how it affects things when parked, but it ran ok.
Sorry, but the topic of ethanol in fuel is just as old (or new) on the continent as in the UK, it is only the last few years that made us look at alternatives because of the negative effects on (old) engines and carb rubbers.

I welded mine years ago, use it rarely, but it keeps up with demands ;)
Sorry for the dirt in the pic, bike is used almost daily and kept a bit greasy to prevent rust

Dutch. Not German.
18.000.000 people might get a little irritated if you mix them up.
The other 80.000.000 would only find it very funny.
Says the Dutchman who lives in Germany ;)

You are (trying to) ride it like a Harley.

You can imagine it is very annoying when starting from traffic lights, you want to be fast, but then 1-neutral-2...shame ::)
If you want to be fast, why are you shifting before 3-4 k rpm? How fast are you going in first gear with those revs? 15 mph?

CB500/550 / Re: Running without main jet retaining spring - opinions
« on: June 02, 2019, 11:05:55 PM »
I rode some time without the spring in carb #1, years ago, went usually well, but had to stop twice in maybe 3 weeks/500 miles to retrieve and replace the jet.
You find out right away when it drops.....
I saw recently on the usa site pics of someone who used a small coil spring that fitted tight around the jet and reached to the bottom of the float bowl.

I'd love to have a set of these, but even for the reduced price my bike would be worth less than the pipes..and I can't afford them ;)

That is not bad at all, I've seen lots having about 50 hp at the wheel, so taken into consideration that chain and gearbox will consume their fair share of power 54 is a nice number.

+1 on Yuasa, they lasted in general well over 7 years in all my bikes!

I always put the airbox on the carbs when they are off the bike, and then slide the assembly in the frame from the right side. In my eyes the only way to make sure the air inlet is as smooth as possible on all four carbs.

Mine was far worse when i got it, this one just needs a good clean and some minor parts...
It's had a super clean, scrub, polish and paint. It's had major new parts...tank, loom, seat, battery, exhaust flanges, seals, oil feed pipes, electrical bits...and...and...and.....DSS spares must love me.
I was referring to post 11.....the one to shoot instead of restore to working condition?
