Those dowels are there to make sure the top and bottom cases are perfectly lined up, because especially the crank bearings are measured with thousands of an inch (or mm), so what do you think happens when you screw those cases together without dowels?

Like Ted said, hold the complete wheel under water and it WILL show where it leaks! Even a very small inflatable childs swimming pool works, and doesn't cost you any real money.

Hallo Ruben, nice to see yet another fellow countryman here, as mentioned before very nice people and a lot of knowledge to be found here. But did you know there is also an excellent Dutch club dedicated to these bikes? Also very nice people, etcetera, and with activities a bit closer to home , for instance a yearly clubcampingweekend. Do try www.cbfourclub.nl and maybe become a member there too?

They are still widely available partnr. 83551 300 000 , cmsnl sells them from €1 to €3,50 for over 7000 models in several sizes, they fit on my '75 cb400f and my '87 CBR1000F and lots of other models from 125 to 1100cc.

No sprockets without teeth? The chain hasn't come off the rear sprocket? Does the clutch lever feel different?
