Battery internal shorted due to overloading? Gel batteries are meant to be loaded with a steady current of about 14,2 volts, and the SOHC's go up to 15 volts. AGM batteries are much better suited to use in our bikes, and still maintenance free compared with normal lead acid ones.

I see literally nothing on the bike in that video that would make it function better than the original 550. Why is it "cool" and "creative" to remove the mudguards, and hide other parts from view?

When they are "yellowing" they probably are stainless steel...

Does the black smoke persist with the k&n's removed?

The amount of revs at any speed is mechanically determined and high or low compression has nothing to do with that.

#4 is superfluous, skip that and turn plate until light comes on at the F mark.

The bleednipple shouldn't seal on the threads but on the point in the bottom of the hole.

I don't think you want to remove that pin.
Look down into the top of the slide and there are two screws, undo them on all carbs and you may e able to turn the lift mechanism fully out of the way to get the needles.
Are you adjusting for pods?
And definitely use a real JIS screwdriver for those small screws, or you'll only be able to use those screws once!

I too have a CB1300, an 07 faired model that I have been thinking of trading in for a new bike for some time. The problem is I cant find anything better than what I already have. Now that's the sign you own a good bike. (Attachment Link)
Understandable, they are direct descendants of the bike I have been riding for the last 30+ years as main transport, my CBR1000F has done over 200k miles and is still going strong

Why dangerous? 12 volts and say 4 amps?

Good advice, and while doing that check the rear side of the fuse box to see if the fuse holders are still securely soldered to their respective wires.

When measuring the Motobatt while (attempting to) start, you'll probably see the volts disappearing before your eyes, which is a clear indication it's life is over.

Not for this use, I use MEK for repairing ABS fairings and the like. Just buy some gasket remover, it's made for the job! And for very very resisting stuff Tri(chloorethyleen) helps some too, is just as nasty stuff as MEK btw
