Title: Forks from “Philpots”
Post by: Johnny4428 on February 26, 2021, 08:32:36 AM
Wow! What a great job, never even charged carriage for return, I am well chuffed. Thanks for the recommendation.

They have come up great Johnny. I've just sent another set to them as well.

I would certainly have no problem using them again Julie. They even phoned when they were at the grinding down stage and explained that there may be marks which they just can’t hide but they would be in the ears of headlamp. I think there might be a very small mark but you would need to look very close. Just disappointed that nobody is going to see the handiwork apart from the top plugs and rear spindle they did as well. All part of the service!😀

Philpotts do know the market and I wouldn't use anyone else. The price includes carriage both ways, and they check the things for straightness.

Any problems...and they do call to discuss what to do.

I know the usually do the fork caps for free with a re-chrome but how much did they charge to do the rear spindle.
No charge as far as I am aware. £165 + vat is what I paid.

They done the same for me at no cost Ken - Julie recommended I ask them when booking the forks in and they told me then that there would be no cost

Don’t think it’s been ground Ken, there was a nasty flat bit on the edge of the non threaded end of spindle which they sorted, I never asked them to, so they rightly assumed it would be better like. So can’t praise them enough.

On mine, they just done the end of the spindle - actual shaft was not touched and fitted straight through hub/bearings. I had a set of Laverda forks done at Dynasurf several years ago and they were also good

Impressive! I wouldn't have rated them as salvageable at all...

That was my initial thoughts!

Very good work as usual. Had a few sets done by them.
Dropped off the last set and picked them up in person. Took at least 40 minutes to get away as I was chatting to the manager about bikes. He is really into his bikes.
