Post by: whiteylfc on March 11, 2014, 09:59:30 PM
anyone help with where to go next.i've reframed an f2...same engine, carbs, etc but I've put a boyer branson electronic ignition and matching coils on..the bike starts great but as it gets hotter it revs its knackers off....4,000 revs and I'm not touching the throttle/choke.i'm ready for dumping the electronic ignition and going back to the old points which always ran fine.what do you boys think?....timing out?? please help...I'm fed up of stripping the carbs down...

I have heard of electronic ignition causing similar problems.
Why fit electronic ignition when the good old points never play up on the 750's.

Put the points system back on and see if it still over rev's.

Hi,
I put a Boyer Micro system on my CB650Z. I found that if you set it up as per instructions, ie, set the timing to full advance at 4000 revs it was a bit revy. So I simply timed as per contact points, ie, at the F mark on the flywheel and I had no further problems. The bike ran well and was quite torquey compared to the original electronic system.
If you set the timing at the F mark and you are still getting revs make sure that the push pull throttle is correctly adjusted as this can cause revving to occur. Make sure there is enough slack on the 'push' cable.
