Thanks Steve...it was only 2 degrees C up in the Peak District so my fingers were a bit numb when I took the photo...My Tiger 800 has heated grips but no such luxury on the Replica...

Took the Phil Read Replica over to Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District to see the effects of the flooding in the Derwent valley... couldn't resist a blast up the Snake Pass into Glossop for a greasey spoon burger and chips👍

What's the problem?I went on my Phil Read Replica and rode down the outside of you lot sat in your cars..then had a ride back through Ashbourne to Matlock Bath..Although I would have struggled to get anything home if I had of seen anything worth buying..
I like 400/4s as much as the next man but why oh why would you have THREE yellow 400/4s on the same exhibition ring?
I'll still go next year as I keep hoping I'll find a stupidly rare Seeley exhaust can for a Honda Britain ..

COLLARS.....I couldn't think of a word to describe them..!!I could see them on exploded diagrams on the Internet but couldn't work out why there would be a groove in the lower crankcase half is something didn't go into it.I bought and stripped another f2 engine and I don't remember that having any collars in it which is what threw me.Is Honda bond any good?    Many thanks

CB750 / f2 rebuild...help...

Can anyone help?..I took apart a 26k mile cb750 engine in my Phil Read Replica and had the crankcases bead blasted. ...now it's going back together I can't remember whether there should be any of the 3 semi circular clips (?)on the 3 bearings on the main shaft to the drive sprocket. There is a groove in the top and bottom crankcases.secondly...when I finally put the 2 crankcase halves together, should I put any bonding on the joints?I don't remember their being any when I split the crankcases...many thanks John white

CB750 / stripping and painting crankcases
« on: September 19, 2016, 07:31:12 PM »
hi all.....I know this has been covered many times on here, but here goes. The engine that's going into my Phil Read Replica is badly flaked and I want it as close to original as possible before it goes back in the frame.I've split the crankcases to check out the internals and pulled out the crank and gears. Can anyone who has stripped and painted the crankcases advice me on the best way to do this.....

CB750 / Re: Motorbike Show ITV restoring a a Phil Read Replica CB750F2
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:05:36 PM »
Henry Cole and his team contacted me for help with the restoration and I lent him the z bars he had copied and my petrol tank for colour matching (both were in the programme)their sprayer,Darren, also painted a Honda Britain alloy tank for me in PRR colours and the film company picked up the tab!!I could pick fault but at least it has restored another Read Replica and several other owners have now come forward.I now know of at least 50 PRR's and 30 honda Britain's.John White

I have located about 45 surviving read replicas and 30+Honda Britains so its been a worthwhile project.I don't think your bike is on my list as whenever I have seen it on the internet, they hide the number plate.....

I was approached by Henry Cole to assist with the making of this programme as I run the Phil Read Replica owners club and own a couple, plus a few Honda Britains.I lent them a set of handlebars to copy and a newly painted alloy tank so they could get the colours right. Most of the information they spouted out was lifted from the owners club website.
I'm sure the programme will showcase the Phil Read Replica and lift its reputation.....fingers crossed
