thanks for the tips guys.the bike had a new inline filter which hasn't cured the problem when I've left the bike for a few weeks.i have been leaving it on the sidestand in the garage and I can see how this could cause a problem.i'll give the other tips a go as well before I get the bloody spanners out again......john

CB750 / help...leaking overflow...again
« on: May 27, 2013, 05:01:04 PM »
has anyone got any tips to stop the flaming nuisance of the carb overflows leaking on my CB750 F2 Honda Britain...If I havnt used it for a while, one of the 4 carbs will start free flowing petrol out of it,usually necessitating a carbs off fiddle around and half a day wasted. The carbs had been professionally rebuilt with new seals, floats, etc,so shouldn't need anything new.Any tips for cleaning out the carbs without taking them off??   John

my philosophy has always been "if it aint broke, dont fix it" but i found to my cost at the '12 I.O.M. T.T. that old h.t.leads and pouring rain dont mix....while i was changing the coils i thought i'd try electronic ignition.i've cleaned the battery terminals and it hasnt cut out since.i just need another pair of hands to help me with the strobe light.thanks for all the suggestions..

CB750 / boyer bransden electronic ignition

i've just put a boyer bransden kit including mini coils on my Phil Read Rep.All went on okay but after about 10 secs it cuts out so i cant do a strobe check on the timing....anyone else had this problem or can offer a solution before i rip it off and put the old bits back on.One of the 3 lugs that hold the base plate down had sheared off (old damage) so i'm not sure if the new plastic plate will vibrate too much on 2 lugs.

hi there....i have recently started an owners club specifically for cb750f2 honda britains and phil read replicas.i have a sizeable database of these bikes and i'm always looking for gaps such as your bike which has been off the road for some time.if you are happy to send me the reg.no and frame no.even if you're not bothered about joining the owners club....check out the website on www.cb750f2hondabritainoc.co.uk and see what you think......my mobile numbers on it....john

know what you mean about the lack of mirrors.i took my read to the tt races last year.chucked it down all the way from Derby to Liverpool and couldnt see a thing on the M6 behind lorries....and it had dropped onto 3 cylinders because of the rain on the ht leads!!!! i've put mirrors on my Honda Britain and they do look like part of the bike if they are colour matched.no indicators on any of them tho.....just very questionable hand signals......
