Yes, just a type of oxidation from the copper corroding. I had some on contacts in my old Calibra when the windscreen drain rubber “boot” cloggged up, backed up, and flooded in, saturating the 4in thick foam rubber floor insulation causing condensation everywhere. Not good for car electrics!

Just an observation that I noticed a wet verdigris deposit on the connectors in the small shroud to the right of the battery (500/4) from the points leading to the coils. It might be worth checking if the feed to the coils is suspect.

We recently replaced the PCB and gas valve (Vaillant) before ironically it turned out to be the HT ignition lead, cost £28. The old one had no continuity when tested with a multimeter! 🤦

Roo, I recently got a small dent in my car wing removed by a guy who was working on a neighbour’s car. He hot glued a widget onto the paint, and used a bracket thing to pull it out, very effective £40. They may use other tools too. If you can find the same or similar franchise locally that might work. I think it was Dingoes Dent Removal with this logo.

Seems to tickover cleaner when cold and warm, pull more eagerly and cleanly from low revs. Nice. 👍👍

Echo Lobo, there seem to be fixes using various fluids, have heard Allen Millyard describing using diesel or brake fluid or something. Worth waiting until really needed. (For any liner) I think I used a ply blank, with an improvised inner tube seal, over the outlet hole screwed down so the liner didn’t get into the threads, and then unscrewed when partially set.
In the case of POR15 it was lumpy in the tin, difficult to mix, and the lid was virtually bonded on, so mine may have been a bit old! If in doubt, sometimes a job left to a specialist!

My NOS tank eventually had a fine layer of rust. I used POR15 and it has worked well and lasted. Needs to be very carefully applied. For me needs to be done outside ideally and skin covered and a fan to blow fumes away. I came out in hives where my forearms and lower neck were expose, being sensitive!

Yes UK eBay but FOC is better! Looks like the gaps don’t amount to the difference in length. I should think if the coins could stretch it, using it would too, (which it doesn’t of course). The genuine original ones are pretty robust. The DSS spring looks genuine as stated for anyone needing one.

Mine will be original, the windings look more compacted. It is tight against the rubber stop when up. Looks like a manufacturing issue?

Did you fit it in the up position or down?
