If I curl up my index finger to make a really tiny hole and look close up through it at a light, without glasses on, I can see a sort of web pattern… just an observation!

There’s a whole debate about that, stand by! I didn’t see anything in mine as some were bunged up with deposits, and had to clear them out very gently using a kit of stainless slightly abrasive rods from eBay. If doing it again I’d use my digital vernier to measure the right rod. Some kits come with tiny brushes that are useful for the openings they fit in plus in my case the inlet. But best wait for more experienced comments.

I think my 3 and/or 4 were slow filling up due to a combination of gummed up tank cap breather (due to over filling 🙄), a slope up in the fuel pipe, and maybe float height. After steady running it seemed like the fuel level was dropping so it struggled to reach the idle jet, being higher than the main jet, and wanted to stall, so it would run on the main jet with more throttle if I stopped, and then the fuel level ‘caught up’. Also while running, after running a bit, and changing down, blipping the throttle seemed hesitant.
I’m hoping I’ve sorted the tank cap by putting a rubber tube tight against the small hole and blowing plus squirting carb cleaner into the hole.

Hi just a couple of easy checks, maybe swap the plug with#4 and also drain the float bowl and measure, mine are all about 50ml. I used a cheap plastic water dispenser cup marked at 50ml, the petrol melts everything else plastic! Ash’s excellent tip correctly says to drain tubes first for absolute accuracy, but a straight drain still gives an approx measure.

Possibly worth getting together and wait until next time someone visits the US?

A few years ago i needed the idiot light sub loom as all the rubbers were shot. If anyone needs those I think they came from the US but don’t seem to appear on eBay now so maybe via the US forum. The ones I bought weren’t expensive (then) and worked out well. Probably these but have gone up in price…… https://z1parts.net/indicator-panel-dash-light-instrument-harness-honda-cb750-cb500/

Just got a new multimeter that shows one type of condenser charges and discharges much more quickly than another. Both charge and discharge fully, just one is quicker. Can anyone confirm which, if any, is preferred? Many thanks

We know of a 70 year old gent who had his valuable watch ripped off by a gang with a car, in Weybridge near Brooklands. 12 minutes later in Ripley the police got all 4 of their tyres with a stinger! It does work out sometimes! 😁 Keeps it locked up now!

I guess a simple alternative could be a short cycle style cable, run round a fork leg and a down tube. Not too difficult to carry and might even fit in the tool tray.

I marked mine with a sharpie and tightened them to the same point apart from one that was probably a bit under in the first place. There are stories of over tightening, including due to torque wrench not working properly, and the basket cracking. They don’t need to be very tight, I got an impression when undoing them, maybe mark and then use a very low torque to ‘test’ the mark.

Hopefully if a bit is protruding you can grip it and draw it out. Mine was broken behind the plate with the hole in, the shorter piece had been put in back to front so the shaped end had peened the tip of the long section so it was too fat to come out through the hole.

Trigger supplied me with a stronger version. Very pleased.

Simon My push rod was broken beyond the “guide hole” and was burred, so it wouldn’t come out left side. I had to take off the clutch housing and take it out that side. Hope yours is easier. Best J
