At last! Someone more local (than Yamiya) is starting to produce this stuff again.

John,

Ash is right about the colour - Eamon's K0 is Candy Blue/Green Honda Code AZ. That might help a professional painter, although Hondas 70's paint codes were notoriously "in-house" (ie means nothing to anyone else!)

Having swapped messages with AshimotoK0 on sohc4.net recently, I was spurred into updating www.nirvana-motorcycles.com to add our K0 to the gallery section.

This bike was featured in CB July 2009 - some of the pictures were taken by looking over the photographer's shoulder during the shoot (copy the professionals!)

Take a look

CB500/550 / Re: Jetting 1977 CB550K

Hi and welcome.

The 550K had 4-4 as standard and you are correct - the PD46s were completely different from the 500 and 550F carbs (which were 627B)

The Marshall exhaust will breathe far more easily than the stock system and will cause the engine to run very lean - you'll have massive flat spots in the performance. You will need to increase the size of the main jets to get flat out performance but will probably have to increase the pilot jets as well (and fiddle with the air screw).

It is not easy and can only be done by trial and error.

Go to www.sohc4.net and look up a member called "Two Tired", he is generally accepted as the "global" expert on rejetting a 550. There are loads of threads on there about this.

I directed Anders here from the Honda Owners' Club forum. I told him that he'd find the experts on here.

Don't let me down guys...    ;D

Now that save a lot of faffing around trying to find that 8mm socket (that you haven't used since last time)!

There's a 1979 CB900 that I'm interested in - too far to go and I hate buying blind.

Anyone up there who could do me a favour and go look at it for me?

Steve (CB900-less at the moment)

There's a guy on sohc4.net who makes phenolic pistons (he turns them down from automotive parts). They come highly recommended by our US cousins.

There are a couple of very good independants around here (Reading) who will work on these old bikes (they actually prefer it)

Let me know if you are still looking.

CB500/550 / Re: CB650 coils
« on: November 19, 2009, 02:09:15 PM »
There's a FAQ on sohc4.net that shows how to open up the coils and repair them with new leads.

Also, some on there have successfully used CB750/900 DOHC coils that have detachable leads (but need a bit of metalwork/bracketry to fit)

Hello mate!

Whereabouts in NW Kent? Put your location in your Profile and it will be displayed below your avatar - thus saving all the "where are you?" questions. We have members from Bromley to Maidstone - I'm down there a fair amount too as my kids live in Greenwich and Lewisham and my riding buddy in Canterbury.

Hi James.
As you're in the USA, register with www.sohc4.net and ask them the same question. There will be many more members in your neck of the woods - this site is mostly UK-based. (We still want to hear from you though!)
