Hi All.
A very quick question before I take all the parts off for powder coating tomorrow, Does anyone one know the correct finish of the top yoke and handlebar clamps? I know they are black but should they be gloss black or satin black? Most bikes I have seen and not just Honda's have a satin black finish on these parts but mine have been painted with a spray can by the PO. I've just completed a search but unable to find the answer in the 400 section.
Thanks
Dave

Mine were gloss black - I think they were original.

Satin

Satin on the 500/550, I’d imagine same for 350/400

Mine were definitely gloss on the underside of top & bottom parts - the tops were weather-beaten.
Of course they might have been painted by one of the ten or so PO's as I respect Ash & Kens statements.

I do mine in PJ1 Satin black and bake at 125 Deg C ... Then polish slightly with Solvol Autosol.

I have a NOS top yoke for a 550F in the loft and it's satin Ted.

Thanks all, I'll go for the satin finish 👍

Yes, definitely satin for both the yoke and the clamps. Pic (Hopefully) of my 400 with the original untouched (scratched!) items.

For my restorations I use semi-Gloss for bottom yoke (attached to stem), satin for top yoke.
