Title: Hello
Post by: Philh550 on February 04, 2019, 03:33:34 PM
Hi all
I am new to this site but had motor bikes for the last 40 plus years.
This latest one , my 1976 CB 550 F1 is a real project !
Bought for £50 its consists of a frame ,engine, both wheels, tank, forks and cafe racer seat hump, and thats it !
I am not restoring it, but probably going down the street tracker route as the rear sub frame has already been cut and there are so many parts missing, also my old back can't do the racer position for too long.
I've had a few Hondas in the past...
CB 250, early 80s
TL 125
400 Dream (the fat one)
Transalp 2006
1999 Fireblade 900
I've also had a couple of old Harleys, Buell 900, Kawasaki 750LTD, 1960 Enfield Constellation.
My current bikes are
Moto Guzzi G5 1979
Moto Guzzi SP1000 1978
and a Yamaha Diversion street tracker I did a couple of winters ago.
Anyhow off to the garage to list my bits for David Silver, and phone to see how the barrels and head are doing at the local engineering shop, (hope the wife doesn't see the bills)
Ok
Take care
Phil

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you bagged a bargin. Cb550 is a mighty fine machine, sounds like your plan is about the best way with that project. Have fun pictures are nice to share if you can figure out how.

Welcome Phil. Looking good, always nice to have a bike in bits I think, makes cleaning in the nooks and crannies so much easier 😀😀😀
Mine wasn't quite that bad but all came good in the end

Welcome in Phil. looks like you have plenty to do... I have a pair of old shocks off a 750 (non std) that you are welcome to if they are any use.... even if its just to get your chassis rolling...

Ey up moorey, Iam using Blands of Monk Bretton here in Barnsley. Seem reasonable but its taking a while, used them before for some work on my old Guzzis.

Good to hear they are still going. They were doing engines for me in the early 70s I guess was it George will be long gone now, or maybe not.

Hi Rob

Phil, i dont want anything for them, they are foc to a good home, i’ve never used them so i dont know how well they work, they were fitted when it came from the states... they may work ok on the road, but may only be suitable for temp use. I would only want postage for them but they may not even be worth that, do you get over to squires cafe? I could hand them over there...I live in cas and work at normanton, if you get anywhere near that area i can meet you....saves postage. Let me know.
