Your spot on there Mark. Looking at advice from research, removing the Ethanol from E5 should lower the octane by one and E10 by two. So if you start with super unleaded it should be good for classics.
Does anyone know the chemistry of how this eBay device works? If its genuine, £50 is better than a new tank. And 18lts at a go is a useful amount as long as it only takes overnight. Doesn't help on a journey over 200 miles though. But those are pretty rare except for the annual trip to the Isle of Man, but their petrol is Ethanol free anyway.

Not a 750 unless its been over-bored. Looks a bit like a 650 engine although I'm no expert on them. If it's a Pukka racer I think I would do a bit better on the brake front. Really nicely turned out bike though, a credit to it's owner. Shame all race bike aren't as good as that. Got me thinking about the next project now, that's quite inspiring. A plan is hatching.

Job done. Just fitted the new breather pipe on the bottom of the plenum chamber. Turns out it has a little air filter element fitted at the top so it doesn't matter if it sucks air in via the breather/drain. Clever stuff, that's another for the knackered old memory to retain.

I think import from Europe are easier to register than the ones from US. I have not sent any paperwork to DVLA, they are not aware of my bike. Here are some shots of my bike, (apologies to the purists on this forum). BrianJ please pm your contact.

That bikes starting to look okay considering what you started with. Well done mate, keep going.

That reply will be interesting Greebo. Not sure what we can do when 2017 comes around as 5% is just about do-able but 10% needs fuel injection and plastic tanks etc. Surely they must allow a supply of Ethanol free for classic owners even if it costs more. Getting near time for a letter campaign to MP's for all the good that will do. Wonder if Comrade Corbyn has a position on this.

i need to stop going to bike jumbles "one mans junk is another mans junk"
Always thought that about car boots. They may as well put a huge skip at the gate and save everybody the trouble of moving crap from one attic to the next. Plus, it would Ash something to root around in.

Cheers Greebo. Good to know there's another alternative. Don't know why BP Ultimate contains Ethanol in the South West but nowhere else. Strange.

Just got this reply back from Adblock (Easylist)
Hi Roy, Thanks for reporting! This should now be fixed if you manually update your filters. Best, MonztA
So basically if you update your Adblock filters manually its all fixed (this will happen automatically if you wait a few days). Job done. Bet I don't even get a thank you from David Silvers, a nice credit note to spend on bits would be nice. Some hope.

No, the 400/4 is a screw fitting tap. This ones nearly new so it's fine with a 2 into 1 splitter.

Looks to me like the engine casing has been drilled out and re-tapped. Those bolts tend to seize in place if not greased up and moved occasionally.
Looks like the PO has stripped the thread out and done a home made repair. You may need to get someone with a lathe to turn you a special bolt to fit, a copper washer under the locknut and a turn of ptfe on the threads by the locknut will probably stop any leaks.
Somebody on here will probably know a tested fix as its a common problem. Sounds like Mike may know as he mentions it being seized.
Pretty sure your new bolt isn't going in there any time soon though.

Wow, that shows the problem beautifully. I am planning to do all my bikes tanks with Ethanol proof liner over the winter as the Ethanol problem is going to get worse when (and if?) E10 is introduced.

Maybe they want "loose" customers Mike.

Yes it's definitely a 500 tap, but its nearly new and fits okay so I will order a splitter for it. Cheers.
