It's interesting that quite a few parts that seemed unavailable only a couple of years back are now being produced again, either that or I didn't look hard enough. That seems to be true for 400 & 500 parts.

The strainers are £22 plus postage from DS - they were not listed when I cleaned mine probably a couple of years ago.

I would take care trying to remove the mesh unit as the outer rubber section  might have  become brittle with age.
Mine was full of filter mesh that cleaned off easily enough by squirting down cleaning fluid from the top.
IIRC if the seal part breaks  replacements might not be available.

This was mine - cleaned easiy without removal - assuming yours is like mine.

Although I've only managed 20 miles on the last  500 ride I did intentionally do a lot of accelerating and firm braking when there was no one following. Without really noticing whilst riding  as I turned into my driveway to a full stop in front of our gates they felt they were more effective.

Might be they just work better when hot or they might be starting to bed in - early days for sure.

I can't see they would raise that much money although they could freeze the date and stop it being a rolling date.
I would just tax my bikes in the summer and cash it in when it gets cold so three months VEL duty for Mr Starmer.
Be easier to make all Electric Cars Pay VED, not sure why you can pay 7p per kwh to charge your car but you have to pay 25 p per kwh or more for your home.

My main worry with smaller bikes is that my hip angle will be a problem as it is on the 400, the 500 is really comfy.

The reality is I've spent much more time restoring than riding so for me with my low annual miles it's pretty much irrelevant I guess.

It spoils the appearance of what otherwise looks a well built bike.

I know Neil is changing the rear dampers as the damper spindles looks really thin.right side by Macabe Thiele, on Flickr

This is a Suzuki 1400 Turbo with 270 bhp that my mate Neil has just bought.

I know Neil used to race at Santa Pod but this amount of power on a road bike only one word Mental.

I suspect the legislation was introduced primarily for old cars as a result of lobying with a lot of sympathetic enthusiasts in both houses of Parliament.

Our local MP at the time Greg Night iirc had a collection of old vehicles employing a retired mechanic (Gerald RIP) who looked after his fleet of mainly early post war vehicles. Greg's house was impressive but his purpose built garages more so, when he lost his seat he sold up and presumably returned to live nearer London where he was a Barrister.

Thanks for the information Guys - to complicate things a local 550 has come up so clearly I am still not sure what to buy next.
I liked the 250 version but back in the day I liked the idea of a 400 more. I am going to be sensible and not rush into anything - only definites are it will be a Honda with only 1 or two cylinders that will not break the bank with essential spares available.

I'm going to Stafford show with BiL next month so I'll see what floats my boat.
