CB500/550 / what year is my 500 engine?
« on: March 18, 2017, 02:50:27 PM »
can anyone tell me what year my 500 engine is? CB500E - 2008943.  i'm a site manager at a residential behavioural school and one of the kids is taking a keen interest in motorcycle mechanics, so it's going to be a bit of a school project.

CB750 / twin 40's on a 750
« on: July 11, 2016, 09:06:04 PM »
having been a big rally fan in the 70's i was intrigued to see a pic of a 750 fitted with a pair of weber DCOE 40 carbs which i assumed were only fitted to cars. anyone ever fitted some to theirs? according to google it seems to have been a common mod on 750 drag bikes. looks interesting though.

Misc / Open / should i strip or not??
« on: September 03, 2015, 09:44:08 PM »
i'm working on a 750 f2 with only 22,000ish miles on the clock. condition of the bike reflects that and i have paperwork to confirm it. however, should i take a risk on not stripping the engine or go for 'better safe than sorry'? i have not heard it running and it was bought in a dismantled state. basically, i'm trying to save myself a lot of work!! advice please...

CB750 / stupid questions
« on: August 18, 2015, 08:08:23 PM »
i hope someone can enlighten me as to what goes where on my battery box as my manuals are a little vague. firstly, what goes where the arrows are pointing and what goes in the circled brackets?

and what bolts onto the bracket underneath the solenoid?

and what goes here?

and here (its lying on its side in this pic)

and what are these tabs either side for?

thank you in advance! i need to make sure that everything fits as it should before powder coating.
