Title: Classic Insurance
Post by: TKMSteve on July 18, 2020, 10:03:07 AM
Recommendations please.
Just going through registering as a classic motorbike and exemption from MOT.
So next step will be insuring the bike.
Can anybody recommend an insurance company for an old fart rider on very limited mileage.
Thanks,
Steve

We have all ours insured at the moment with Swinton and Carol Nash (Select). None of our bikes are on 'Classic' or 'Vintage' polices, they are just on normal policies.

I use Carol Nash, have done for 25+ years but likely to change at renewal time as they have become a hassle to deal with over the past two years. Constantly overcharge at renewal time forcing me to do the insurance merry go round only to beat the cheaper quote when I say I'm leaving. I've had enough of wasting my time. This year (as in October 2019) I revalued three of my bikes and sent the photos off to CN as requested for the agreed valuation. I'm still waiting despite three phone calls. I wouldn't recommend them now.

I had agro from Carol Nash, because I said I did not want them to auto renew they did not send me a reminder and would not reinsure the bike as it was undergoing repair

As of Feb 2020 Bennett, Carole Nash, Swintons all owned by Atlanta Investment Holdings.

They need to start paying back the purchase price…

Having said that, my CN renewal for three bikes went down this year.

Peter James for many years for me too.  Agreed value on all but the CBF 600 (2008) and C125 (new in March) and the agreed values go right up to 2099!  I'll be 150 then, providing I keep away from this virus!

Bikesure for me,  as they have been the cheapest for the past three years, haven't made a claim so i don't know what they are like to deal with, with a bit of luck i won't have too.

I know some people don't like them but I renewed with Carole Nash this year for my 550.  Just £45, about a tenner cheaper than last year.

Ours was cheaper this year than last with Carol Nash. A 550/4 £50.26 and the same for 2 of our 750/4's, £50.26 each bike 😊😊😊 I'm hoping my 400/4 will be about £45 this year. Their Select policy is great, no excess and you can ride anyone else's bike as long as its insured elsewhere. Other than that, it's a 'no frills' policy.... Just perfect.
