According to the parts book that plate should be underneath oh the RH side and is to hold the carb drains etc

If you are still reading this - thanks for postng the image. I'm restoring a 550F1 and couldn't remember how to fit the spring - even thought I'd power-coated the half-moon bracket - doh!

Mike I think all the carb drains go through the big hole, the small hole is for the battery overflow if I recall correctly

Mike for what it's worth, why don't you get the nuts and bolts re-zinced seeing you've a new coat on the frame, it's not expensive and it'll make it look much better?

I'm restoring a 500 and had plenty of stuff rezinced and it looks like new.

Mike I'm not sure if your spring and C thing is black or painted, here's mine re-zinced, certainly get the nuts and bolts done.

Ultimate Shine - Liverpool Sydney Australia. I think it might be a bit out of your way in Sussex.
Spring cost $2 and the C $4
Every nut, bolt washers, carby parts and studs $250 the lot all look brand new
