K2 K6
It will be a double already got the vin plate need a number plate and it will almost be identical.Rife here in France all they care about is the frame number and as its heavily painted you can not read it so they will look at the vin plate and as long as it coinsides with the log book I have no problems.

I think that's how the BSAs were, he'd bought two of them years before and rode one to work all the time and just got the other one out for sundays and MOT with the speedo of the used one fitted temporarily.
Only one lot of tax and insurance as well.
I like your style if that's the case.

Yes plus 1 from me too. Anyone can throw ridiculous amounts of money at a resto but to do it on a shoestring (wherever possible) is what our hobby is all about, in my view.

Thanks Pete. Unlike some of  you guys I play at work and there is really f all to do here apart from sunbath or pull out weeds which makes my back ache and I am not a sun worshipper. So what I do is tinker about on the days I have jack to do and will spend all day polishing etc.Its still 27 degrees here but Sunday even though I could do a bit more I am going out on my other one to make me smile it always does.

I may have dodgy eyesight but I can see the side panel badges are the wrong way round. ;)
Now you know it will bug the hell out of you I know because mine were the same and it drove me mad until I swapped them. ;D
I may have one brand new heat shield with a tiny mark on it you can have it if I can find it.

Update
Well front master and caliper now done and all works a treat but those frackin forks don't look right or feel right and now I know why. Thanks to fellow members giving me measurements etc they are 20mm short. The bike front end is noticeably lower yet there is 341 stamped on the sliders but these tubes hell knows what they are.Even with oil in they are softer than my quilt on the bed so they are going in the skip and has anyone got a pair for sale? Was these for cafe racer low front end etc I have no idea does any on else?

Trig
If you remember I found valve springs on top off the normal springs they are defiantly the wrong forks see my other one.The boots are more squashed and they hardly move down. The speedo cable looks too long but I know its not so bin they are going.I would just buy new tubes but the internals are not the same as standard and if I could get the standard internals I would do so but not available anymore.

Bitsa - I think I may have a spare set of forks. They were on the k0 that I've now started restoring but are from a k4 onwards I think, so the lowers are the later style. Haven't checked the stanchions but happy to send the whole lot to you for the cost of postage, as you and Graham have both helped me out recently. I'll try and pull them off the lower tripe tomorrow and get you some pics mate. James

Just an update
Well ditched the short forks, thinkin about it would be great for a low rider cafe racer, re furbed most of what James sent me and waiting on new tubes that my Parisian mate has sent.As norm had to go out today for 2 hours today and the barsteward delivery man had to call then.So will have to wait until tommorrow. As Trig says 150 in the UK to re chrome etc triple that here does anyone want some 750 tubes with the top nuts?

I was going to post.....have you not got that fracing bike going yet Bitsa.....but thought that maybe taking the pi**.......so I won't do that.

Think that's part of the basic training with domestic delivery, they wait round the corner to watch you go out and then leg it in with a card to say you were out......perfect timing, job done  :D

Got a mate who's an electrician and his wife swears the exams include sucking your teeth and repeating "Oooooo, that's gonna cost ya".

I think the K2 amount should cover all the damper internal function and any more is a matter of preference as it just changes the air gap at the top, so in the middle should be fine.

That way my new boxed ones remain new boxed.Trig no problem with the DS master piece of pee fitted bleed and good.I will take my hat off and say most of the replica stuff now fits and works good never thought I would ever say that but they have improved a lot.Front end now looks true and the speedo cable does not look to long now.

Today I fitted the exhausts off my other one and started her up.No strange noises and well happy until I put the tank on and turned the bars to full lock.Touches the tank both ways.Seems a k2 frame and a k5 lower tree are not compatable so will have to get my mate round to weld a bit on each stop or a nut or something, he will know what to do.Otherwise just a test ride to make sure all ok.Really could do with better guards but like I said afore will bide my time until good uns turn up.Oh yeah b4 anyone says it the stain underneath it is old not from the bike  :D

Bigger the nightmare the better. Love the challenge.
Yak is a Bos grunniens, a type of buffalo found in Mongolia.

Yeah me too Trig but must be my age and a knackered body Its starting to get to me but still desire the satisfaction on the results. The second one has fought me all the way I curse it and get a result then move on to the next problem as where the other one stripped it down cleaned it painted it and no problems.I suppose its one off, of the challenges of life who knows?Still love it
Cheers
Ralph
Never heard of that

A mate came round today welded a 4mm block on both sides and now the dogs. All that's left to do is road test and fix the starter motor which I am in no rush to do kicks fine. One thing though
the clutch noise ain't normal to me it makes a lovely whirring noise and when you pull in the lever oh so quite. When I rebuilt it I remember the clutch had extra washers real strong springs and when I asked at my breakers about it all he said was much better that way put it back as you found it.Was there a clutch mod kit about in those days? One other thing does the starter motor come out with carbs on don't remember?
Cheers All

Sorry Bitsa can't remember either its one of those things you do once and then forget.
Good to know your not going to whack the tank now still seems a bit strange though

Starter motor DOES come out with the carbs on. Somebody put a Honda bulletin on here some time back about a clutch mod for the early K's, think it was Ash or Bryan, but I didn't take much notice of it as my F1 would have been modified in the factory. ::)

Starter will come out with the carbs on but the alternator has to come off as the little sproket falls down, The clutch mod was to fit the double steel plate from a wing)NLA NEW) and the bulletins are all on the US site somewhere

Think the cold may have got to Bryan, I have NEVER had an issue taking the starter motor out of a 750 leaving the alternator alone. I know on some Honda twins it can be an issue, as there is a chain from the starter motor to the crank, but no such hassle with the 750's :))

Sorry peeps, I was COOOOLD and tired after a another 14 hour night and was thinking of the smaller chain driven starters, 450/500?, plus the 23/500 co-codamol were kicking in.

If a starter does not turn try using jump leads direct to starter casing and terminal first, if it still don't work its normaly brushes and a clean but with enough decent used ones out there that aint always worth it as you have to solder the brush braids if my memory is back working

Well Guys n Gals after the last 2 months of the shite I have been through finally yesterday took her for her first test ride since finishing her started 2nd kick.Still the best medicine for making you feel better.Did not go far but boy did I return well happy and with the infamous grin.Ran well handled ok but rear brake needs bedding in which is no big deal.So now waiting for a few more days when its 18 degrees plus and will venture further.Runs better than my other one smooth no hesitates etc will have to have another go with the other one hmmmm.
Cheers
