Title: 500 K0 fork dampers
Post by: Oceans4 on June 14, 2019, 03:35:01 PM
Help please!
The fork dampers on our project CB500 K0 are broken. If the front wheel were to come off the ground there would be nothing to stop the stanchions coming out of the legs/sliders.
David Silver tells us that we can't buy a new replacement.
Any ideas what we can do?
Thanks in advance.
Andy and Pete.

What has broken? Is the tread on the long rod gone? Maybe a replacement can be made.
Or get a set of forks that are cheap because of rusty stanchions.
A little rust showing on these.....check they are the correct ones and make a cheeky offer. +10% ebay over £50 this Friday/Saturday.

I'm not promising anything and don't hold your breath but Graham (Trigger) has a very large assortment of used SOHC/4 forks in the workshop. There may or may not be something to suit but I will ask him. Probably be tomorrow when he looks but will let you know ASAP.

That would be fantastic.
Fingers crossed.
Thank you.

I'm trying to add a picture but the file is too big. It's the top of the damper where the rod goes into has come away on both legs.

How resourceful! Thanks Nurse Julie.

Number 1 (×2)

Also in desperate need of the headlight brackets (13 and 14) but I suppose everyone else is in the same boat there.

I think I've managed to upload a picture now to show the part and where it is broken.

Sorry, don't have any of that type. Never seen one broken like that before.

Thank you all for your help on this.
We have managed to find a pair of forks with good internals so all sorted now until the next problem..
Head light brackets and exhausts might be the next hurdle.
