A friend of mine bought a 400/4 from this guy.
Difficult to value a bike like this - still,

Allot of money considering it still needs a fair bit of recommissioning done to it, i suppose it is like anything it is worth what somebody will pay

I see a lot of 70s Jap bikes on ebay, and some of them are super horrendous money, there were a couple of Kwack Z1s, and the sellers wanted around 13,000 euros each, then the original CB750s go for silly money, RD and RG 400/500, RC30 went for an astronomical amount a while back - truth is, for some reason 70s Jap bikes are going through the roof and Harleys are going down like a lead balloon, I wish I held out for a Harley motor when I built my chop as it would have worked out cheaper, mind you my CB500/4 build isn't proving to be much cheaper :D

That looks really sweet, not that I've got that amount to pay for it but if you bought a new modern bike it'll cost you the same AND depreciate quite quickly!
The economics of it are that these in this condition are now more rare than diamonds which are being dug up each day, so you have a choice. If you got it new in 1972 then it has increased tenfold-ish so not bad a.

Mine was just like that a72 I bought in 77, same colour and everything it does bring very fond memories back but you can get a low mileage 1998-2001 VFR800 FI with the RC45 type engine for about two grand which is a cracking bike so it seems one for the bankers with a bonus to blow!

I had a VFR800 Fi-1 (it's an RC46). It was a good bike - but I prefer my Sprint!

Always liked the Triumphs, I wouldn't mind a Triumph Speedtriple!

I am shocked, horrified and apalled at the price tag. This kind of tomfoolery will be the ruination of motor bicycling as we know it.

It's on eBay with an opening bid of
