Honda part numbers are not complicate, the first numbers tell you what it is, the middle three what model first used on last three manufacturer or country code or supercision code so 283 is the model code you need, the supplier said sounds like 280 which is different

Part number is 41201283000 so i would say 283 not 280 but that is a pure guess

Honda always list alternate sprockets but they were designed with a ratio and yes, compared to british iron, they do seem to rev high BUT its higher up the rev band they give rated power, the 500 handbook says not to go out of the top of the red too often

Have you considered that running 17/35 sprockets has dropped your revs for running speed and may be contributing to your running problem? It was designed to cruise at a certain rev range

Do you not have an old sprocket to give him?

I did some math and 17/39 is damn near same as 15/35 and the cms one would be here fairly quicly. The rear sprocket part numbers only fit the various 450 models according to cms so probably not easy to get aftermarket now

15 to 17 is a big jump, personally i would fit one of the bigger rears from cms to compensate

Tie the lever to the bars and walk away for 24 hours and/or threaten to throw the f*▪︎kn thing out the window. Worked for me at Meads
