I’m about to send the frame for powder coat, but would be very grateful for some advice on removal and replacement of the vin plate. Having trawled the site, I presume it’s conventional to drill out the original rivets then replace with new. I can’t see replacement rivets on the DS site though.
Any advice on removal and replacement gratefully received as I’d like to avoid my usual procedure of cocking it up!

Its also glued on so be carefull as they distort easily, i will look up the rivet part number later for you
-
Thanks, much appreciated. The gluing bit is interesting.

Yep, adhesive backing, either already "aged off" anyway, or use heat-gun to warm before removal...
P/N 90841-001-000 for the rivets IIRC...
-
Thats the number described as "screw, rivet 15x5"

Is the 400/four held on with the same rivets ?
-
Perfect, thanks for that.
:)

As far as i know all the plate rivets are the same. A hint is to carefully drill the head off and not try to drill out thr "pin" as you will probably get an oversize hole

Thanks all. Vin is off. Drexel grinder, paint stripper heat gun and cheese wire did the trick.
Next, s/arm bushes. Though to be fair they look just fine..with very little if any fore/aft and side play. Looks, like the po was a dab hand with the grease gun...what to do?
-
Check the collar, they wear more than the bushes, cost a shitload more as well

Sound. Measures out at around 21.44 and 21.45. Maybe my luck has turned...it needs to :-\
-
That does look good, you may have found a good one. Keep it well greased and it will last for years

Thanks Bryant.
Fingers crossed the po had a similar attitude to engine oil and filters. :)
