Title: CB550K1 - rear shocks replacement - actual options?
Post by: Erny on April 01, 2024, 10:32:27 PM
Linked to my other thread about Koni shocks that won't fit ideally, I'm considering other options to replace my stock shocks. Ideally, new one looking like OEM (chomed)

Any ideas what is actually available on the market and where to buy?
I was looking at TEC website but those declared as matching OEMs are not available... https://www.tecbikeparts.com/product/cb500f-cb550f-k-tec-chrome-shock-absorbers/ but have no idea about their performance anyway.

The reason I'm lloking for the replacement is very, very poor performance of OEM ones, bike is "jumping" on uneven surface and behaves very bad in curves... I simply need much better performance for my riding needs.

No help from me on the shocks.

But that's such a good picture of your bike Erny ... someone knows their shutter speed and aperture combination to pull those aspect together  :)

Perfect blur of spokes etc, while leaving good record of the bike moving.

I love that bike. Best of the CB500/550 series I have ever seen. Also the best pic. What happened to the RH side mirror?

Nothing  ;D
It's there (like aways been), I'm just leaning in the curve so it's hidden. Unless photographer used photoshop to remove it, but I do not see reason to do so  ;)

TEC UK is based not far from me & has stated they cannot get the remote reservoir rears for 550 fours. They are available from US  TEC - seems like a franchise. US TEC will not sell to UK tho. You might be OK in Eastern Europe.

Tec never have stock of any 550 shocks and don't reply to enquiries regarding when stock will be available again,  if it's true they can't get them they should update their website...pretty shoddy.

Alex, try this guy, he is normally at the Kempton Bike Autojumble and is the SE Supplier of TEC shocks.  He had a few pairs left when I last saw him before Christmas.
