Member 4 Sales / 750 bits F2 I think
« on: March 14, 2021, 09:16:20 AM »
I have found in my lockup a box of 750 parts that i think are F2. Look at the pics (will be 3 posts for all pics) and if anybody wants anything make me an offer(plus postage costs) or ask for more pics.

No reasonable offer refused.

There are actually 3 of the tensionr casings with plunger.

All parts can go seperate you dont have to have everything in a pic

Cheers all

Tricks & Tips / Wheel buiding the easier way
« on: October 19, 2020, 08:45:45 PM »
If you want to rebuild your ownspoked wheels try my instructions below.

Please advise if you think it dont make sense

Look at the bent end of the spokes and sort them out into the two different sorts.

Look at one of each spoke plus the hub, one type of spoke goes from outside to inside(you can see the head of the spoke from the outside), the other type has the head on the inside of the hub flange you will normaly find witness marks on the hub flange.

Take the set that go from outside to inside and fit to the hub.

Lace these 20(if its a 500/550/750--16 if 400) to the rim tighten evenly and true the wheel using a stand or whatever remembering that the rim will "kick" where it is welded and that a DTI is way too accurate, both Honda and VOSA(MOT) state 3mm(1/8 inch) for both ideways and radial max limit.

Because there are only 20 spokes to work with its easier to true but do get all 20 at even tension, the ding test is fine,

You can now easily fit the other set of spokes one by one and tighten evenly.

NOTE:-

You must get the type of spoke in the correct order as you can not fit the outside to inside spokes second without bending them!!!

CB500/550 / Condensers
« on: June 10, 2020, 09:55:24 AM »
Somebody recently put up a picture of a cheap condenser from a Range Rover V8 that they thought might fit the SOHC well i got some(had to buy 10 to make carriage worth it) to find they will not fit direct onto points plate due to the "pip" on the plate that goes into a small hole in the mounting plate on original condenser.
OK question for the electronic people on here. What happens if you put 2 condensers in parralel? Will it work or will it cause agro? Idea is to fit a couple of the rover ones at the coilas well as the ones on points plate. I know if it was just at coil it would be OK as Triumph did that for years, just want to leave points plate looking original if possible.
Cheers all.

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Swing arm collar
« on: June 06, 2020, 09:33:49 AM »
I am working on a members 500 and found play in the swing arm.
As usual the collar was worn more than the bushes.
Normal hours spent removing bushes and bronze ones ordered from Julie.
Next problem new collar needed Silvers and CMS  both well over £80 delivered and Silver no stock.
Found Andy Ceepoc on ebay had stock and delivered from Germany in 3 days for £69.
I know Andy has a mixed rep on here but in this case i cant praise him enough.
