Assemble dry and check the "gap" with feelers the see how thick the gasket is, unless a lot was skimmed off you should be OK

I can tell you that was built 10/71 but your best bet is the VJMC although you might have to have it "Inspected" by DVLA at your cost

That's a lot less damage than I have seen repaired by a welder.

There were several changes of output shaft and bearings you would need to check at somewhere like motogrid for part numbers and what models they were used on mate

Roy a decent alloy welder should be able to tap back the broken bit and weld up the damage, may be easier than newish cases

If it wont tick over and the idle screw is unadjusted all the way plus play on the cable  chances are that you have got the adjusters screwed in so much that the slides are "Hanging" on the adjusters.

To get the filter bolt out its either a 3/16 or 1/4 Whitworth socket that is a "Hammer Fit" on the bolt head

DVLA are a government, bureaucratic department and would not believe you could scratch you're arse without written proof

This tends to happen when the rubber wears off the ears at the top.

What i have done in the past is make sure the joint surface is flat and check the fit of a new blade, normally a new blade fills the holes at the top and the bottom pin is only just a fit so there is no vertical movement. You could use some of the rubber off the old cushion in the bottom of the slot but not enough to mean you need to press the cylinders down to get the joint to fit.

This, of course, assumes you are using it as a road bike and not going racing!!

Problem with US now is that they no longer do surface mail, only air mail which is cosiderably dearer and cuts out all the big bits
