Hi,
can any one tell me how much radial play should be on a CB750 F1 front brake caliper holder (45115 392 003). I've just fitted a new holder and I still have a wee bit of radial play but maybe because it could be a repro part and not a genuine Honda part.
BTW I replaced the holder to reduce front brake judder.

Up and down play should be negligible, did you replace the arm and the pin?

Up and down play is about 1.5mm, is this normal?

I would not worry too much about 1.5mm at the furthest point from the pivot. Make sure you give the pin a good coating of thick grease, that will help stop it seizing and wearing too fast, and some people drill and tap the arm at the pivot and fit a grease nipple.

Fitting a grease nipple to the holder seems a good idea.
The old holder and pin I replaced had a lot of play and a massive amount of front brake judder when braking lightly, the new holder has reduced that some what.
I was concerned that the new holder was a repro part and not up to Honda spec, but if a little play is normal then I have to live with a little brake judder.

I used to place a small "O" ring above and below the arm, it helped keep the grease in and water out, and will also take up any slack/judder. There are people on here , I think Trigger does it, that can bush the old arm and ream it back to stock size, so don't dump the old one!

Yep, don't bin your old ones girls and boys. I can refurbish them so that they work better than the original units ;)
Try slacking off all three bolts , then push the pin up and tighten that bolt, then push the top bracket down and tighten up the top two. This should squish the 0 rings a tad.

A bit late but I have just checked my F1 and 1 to 11/2 mm play is the same as mine.

Hairy Git, I have the 'O' rings fitted in the holder and the pin greased.
Dennis, thanks for measuring yours and reporting back.
Trigger, I'm going to follow your advice and slacken the 3 bolts and maybe push the pin up using a small 'G' clamp on the pin and top bracket. Perhaps that's why the 2 top bracket fixing holes are slightly slotted.
I'll keep the old stuff and PM you if I want them refurbished.

Update.
As Trigger suggested I slackened the 3 retaining bolts, then I decided to apply a 'G' clamp to the bottom of the pin and the top of the top bracket.
The top bracket pulled down a little and I notice the pin now stands proud through the top bracket whereas before it was more or less level with the top bracket.
This has taken away most of the play, I will road test the bike soon and report back regarding brake judder.
